gases can escape from the battery. There is
arisk of an explosion.
Allow the frozen battery to thaw out before
charging it or jump-starting.
If the warning and indicator lamps do not light
up on the instrument cluster when tempera-
tures are low, it is highly probable that the dis-
charged battery has frozen.Inthis case, you
may neither charge the battery nor jump-start
the vehicle. The service life of abattery that
has been thawed may be shortened. The start-
ing characteristics may deteriorate, especially
at low temperatures. Have the thawed battery
checked at aqualified specialist workshop.
!
Use standard charging equipment to
charge the batteries. Observe the correct
charging voltage. Do not use rapid charging
for new batteries. For used batteries, the
charging current for rapid charging can be a
maximum of 75 %ofthe battery capacity.
Otherwise, you could damage the batteries.
!
The charging current must not exceed 10 %
(rapid charging maximum 75 %) of the bat-
tery capacity. Otherwise, you could damage
the batteries.
Charging of the batteries can be completed
with a12Vor 24 Vcharger. When charging
observe the various connection options
depending on which charger is used for charg-
ing.
When charging with 12 Vthe batteries can be
charged in sequence and if two 12 Vchargers
are available, they can be charged at the same
time.

If the vehicle is used often or predominantly
over short distances or is parked for along
period, check the battery charge level more
often.
Recharge the batteries regularly if the vehicle
is parked for longer periods. This ensures that
the vehicle can always be started.
Along battery service life can be achieved if
they are always adequately charged.
