Problems when tilting the cab
Problem
Possible causes/consequences and MM Solutions
The cab cannot be til-
ted.
The valve lever of the mechanical-hydraulic cab tilting pump is in
the "Tilt back in driving position".
X
Turn the valve lever of the mechanical-hydraulic cab tilting pump
so that it points towards the "Tilt forward" position (Y page 173).
The tilting hydraulics are leaking or have failed.
X
Have the tilting hydraulics repaired at aqualified specialist work-
shop.
Engine
Starting and stopping the engine
with the cab tilted

WARNING
There are components which move in the
engine compartment, e.g. the cooler fan and
the poly-V-belt. There is arisk of injury.
If you have to carry out any work in the
engine compartment,
R
switch off the ignition
R
never reach into the danger zone of mov-
ing componentparts
R
remove any jewelery and or watches
R
clothing and hair, for example, should
kept clear of the moving parts

WARNING
Certain components on the engine may be
very hot. When carrying out work on the
engine there is arisk of injury.
Where possible, let the engine cool down
and touch only the components described in
the following.
Be aware of the road and traffic situation when
working on public roads and secure your posi-
tion accordingly.
Example
Before starting and stopping the engine
X
Turn the key to the drive position in the igni-
tion lock.
X
Shift into neutral.
X
Tilt the cab forwards (Y page 173).
Starting the engine
X
Press external engine start/engine stop :
until the engine starts.
Starting the engine and increasing the
engine speed
X
Press and hold external engine start/engine
stop : until the desired engine speed is
achieved.
After about three seconds the engine speed
increases. After external engine start/
engine stop : has been released, the
engine continues to run at the speed cur-
rently set.
