Engine does not start
Problem
Possible causes/consequences and MM Solutions
Enginefails to start
when theoutside tem-
perature is low.
The flow properties of thedieselfuel are inadequatedue to paraffin
separation.

Malfunctionsresulting from paraffin separationcan be corrected
by warming theentire fuel system, e.g.byparking thevehicle in a
heated area.

If theengine does notstart after another attempt,have thecause
traced and rectified at aqualified specialist workshop.
The engine will not
start.
The loadingtailgateisswitched on. s StarterinhibitorStarterinhibitor
activeactive appearsinthe gray eventwindow in theon-board com-
puter.

Deactivatethe loadingtailgate; see theseparate Operating
Instructions.
The engine electronics are malfunctioning.

Turn thevehicle keyfully back in theignition lockbefore thenext
starting attempt.
The vehicle was parked with agear engaged, e.g.with thereservoir
pressure in theauxiliary consumers circuit exhausted as aresult of
pressingthe EMERGENCY OFFswitch.For safety reasons, the
engine cannotbestarted when agear is engaged.

Chargethe compressed-air system with an external compressed-
air source.

Start theengine again.

Do notchangewheels on uphill or downhill
gradients.Notify aqualified specialist work-
shop.

If you do notposition thejackcorrectly at
theappropriatejackingpointofthe vehicle,
thejackcouldtip overwith thevehicle
raised. Thereisarisk of injury.
Only position thejackatthe appropriate
jackingpointofthe vehicle.The base of the
jackmust be positioned vertically, directly
underthe jackingpointofthe vehicle.

WARNING
If you park avehicle with air suspension and
leave theignition switched on,the air sus-
pension remains active. If you then raise the
vehicle usingthe jack, theair suspension
attemptstocompensatethe changeinvehi-
cle level. The jackcouldtip over. Thereisa
risk of injury.
Removethe keyfromthe ignition lock
before raising thevehicle.This prevents
automatic vehicle levelcompensation.
