Oiled, greased or damaged wheelnuts or
wheelbolt threadscan causethe wheelnuts
to loosen or be damaged. As aresult, you
couldlose awheelwhile driving. There is a
risk of an accident.
Never oil or grease the threads. In the event
of damage to the threads, contact aquali-
fied specialist workshopimmediately. Have
the damaged wheelnuts or wheelbolts
replaced. Do not drive on.

If you remove awheelthat is resting on the
wheelbolts under load, it may fall off or tip.
There is arisk of injury.
Remove the lastthree wheelnuts when it is
clearthat the wheelisresting on the wheel
bolts and is not under load.

Wheeland tire dimensions as wellasthe
type of tire can vary between the spare
wheeland the wheeltobereplaced. When
the sparewheelismounted, driving charac-
teristics may be severely affected. There is a
risk of an accident.
In order to reduce risks:
R
you should therefore adapt yourdriving
style and drive carefully.
R
never mount more than one sparewheel
that differsfrom the wheeltobereplaced.
R
only use asparewheelthat differsfrom
the wheeltobereplaced for ashort time.
R
have asparewheelthat differsfrom the
wheelthat has been changed replaced at
the nearestqualified specialist workshop.
You must observe the correct wheeland
tire dimensions as wellasthe wheeltype.

Do not raisevehicles equipped with aload-
ing crane or loading tailgate by using the
hydraulic supports. This would causedam-
age to the chassis.
When changing awheel:
R
only use wheelnuts that are approved for
yourvehicle
R
note that the wheelnuts for steel and light-
alloy wheels differ
R
note that the wheelnuts for light-alloy
wheels on the front and rear axlesdiffer
Observe the following when raising the vehi-
cle:
R
the jack is designed only to raisethe vehicle
for ashort time, e.g. while awheelisbeing
changed.Itisnot suitable for raising and
holding the vehiclesothat work can be car-
ried out underneath it.
R
only position the jack at the appropriate
jacking point of the vehicle. Make sure that
the jack is correctly positioned on the jack-
ing point before raising the vehicle.
R
secure the vehiclebefore raising it to pre-
vent it from rolling away, e.g. by applying
the parking brake and/or using chocks. Do
not release the parking brake while the vehi-
cle is raised.
R
the surface on which the jack is standing
must be firm and level. Place the jack on an
underlay if the surface is not firm.
R
make sure that the gap between the under-
side of the raised tire and the ground does
not exceed 1.2 in (30 mm).The vehicle
couldotherwise slip off the jack or tip over.
R
do not change awheelonaslope. The vehi-
cle couldotherwise slip off the jack.
R
do not place yourhands or feet under the
raised vehicle.
R
do not lie under the raised vehicle.
R
make sure that nobody is in the vehicle
when it is raised.
R
do not raisevehicles equipped with aload-
ing crane or loading tailgate by using the
hydraulic supports. This would causedam-
age to the chassis.
R
do not start the engine and avoidother jolts
while the vehicleisraised. The vehiclecould
otherwise slip off the jack.

Park the vehicleonafirm and levelsurface.

Apply the parking brake.

Use chocks to safeguard the vehicleagainst
rolling away.
