may not be equipped with all the functions
described. This also applies to safety-relevant

If you attach heavy or large objects to the
SmartKey, the SmartKey could be uninten-
tionally turned in the ignition lock.This
could cause the enginetobeswitched off.
There is arisk of an accident.
Do not attach any heavy or large objects to
the SmartKey. Remove any bulky key rings
before insertingthe SmartKey intothe igni-
tion lock.
Your vehicle is equipped with aspecial key
system.The enginecan only be started using
keys that are coded for the vehicle.

If avehicle key is lost, obtaining areplace-
ment is atime-consuming process. This can
only be done through aFreightliner Service
Center.
Daimler TrucksNorthAmerica therefore rec-
ommends that you always keep an easily
accessible spare key with you for emergen-
cies.
Unlocking/locking the vehicle

Only open the doors when road and traffic
conditionspermit.Make sure that thereis
sufficient clearance when openingthe
doors. Otherwise, you could damage your
vehicle or other vehicles.
External door lock

Insert the key intothe lock of left-hand
