close the oven door and turn off the

To Broil
Broilingisaquickmethodofcookingfoodsbydirectradiantheatunderthe upperbroilingelement
of theoven.Resultsand cookingtimes will dependon the distancebetweenthefood andthe
element.Tobroil,follow the stepsbelow.
Preheating
Preheatingis suggestedwhen searingrare steaks.Removethe broiler pan and grid before
preheating.Foodsplacedon the hot metalwill stick.Set the ovencontrol.Wait for the upper
elementtobecomeredhot,usuallyabout2-3minutes.Preheatingisnot necessarywhenbroiling
meatswell done.
Broiling
1. Removebroilerpanandgrid.
2. Placethe grid on the broilerpan(if it hasbeendisassembled),andthen the meaton the
coolbroilergrid. Besurethe grid is in placewith the slots down sogreasewill draininto
thepan.DO NOT usethe broilerpanwithout the grid or coverthe grid with aluminum
foil.Theexposedfat couldignite.
3. Selectthe desiredrackpositionandslidethebroilerpaninto place.Forraremeats,position
thebroilerpancloserto the element(upperposition).Forwell-donefoodssuchaschicken,
lobstertailsorthickcutsof meat,positionthe panfurtherfromthe element(lowerposition).
Seechartat left.
4. Placethebroilerpaninthe oven.Leave the door open at the broil stop position,
Thedoorwill stayopenin thisposition.
5. PushtheBROIL pad. '.... andtheword "Broil" will glowinthelowerrightcorner
ofthe display.
6. Pushthe Increase ( A ) or Decrease ( Y ) pad until the desiredbroilingaloneness
levelappearsin the display.Thebroilingtemperaturecan besetfor anyof the six broiling
levels.Referto the chartbelowfor therecommendedbroilingalonenesssettings.
Broil times vary, so watch food closely.Timedependson the distancefrom the element,
thicknessandagingof meat,fat contentanddonenesspreferred.Thefirst side usuallyrequires
a few minuteslongerthan the secondside.Frozenmeatsalsorequireadditionaltime. Formore

8. Whencookingisfinished,pushthe CANCEL pad.
