Caution: The Power LED is used to indicate power status, to indicate that power-up
tests have passed. Never rely on the Power LED as a true power status indicator. Always unplug the Power
In connection if you suspect your Reference 600+ is malfunctioning.
Chapter 6: Panel Indicators and Connectors
Front Panel
The Reference 600+ front panel includes one
connector and four backlit LED indicators.
Cell Cable Connector
The Cell Cable is a 25-pin D-type connector that is
used to connect the Reference 600+ to an
electrochemical test cell. It is normally used with a
Gamry Instruments-supplied cell cable.
In addition to the pins used for cell connections,
the Reference 600+ Cell Connector also uses five
pins to read a cell cable ID. Gamry’s software
compensates for the cell-cable characteristics for
optimal system performance, especially in EIS
(Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy).
See Chapter 2 for more about cell connections.
There is a pin-out diagram of the cell-cable
connector in Appendix B.
The Power LED
The Power LED is on the lower left of the
Reference 600+ front panel. It normally glows a
steady blue, after the Reference 600+ is turned on
and has passed some simple self-tests.
When the Reference 600+ is first turned on, the
Power LED glows steadily for a second or two,
blinks three times, and then enter its normal steady
blue output. Each blink in this sequence indicates
successful completion of a portion of the power-up
self-test routine.
A Reference 600’s Power LED blinks when that
instrument is selected in the Framework’s
Instrument Manager. This allows easy identification
of a specific instrument in a MultEchem system without looking at the instrument Serial Label on the
bottom of the instrument chassis.
When the Power LED is off, several possibilities exist:
The rear panel power switch is off.
There is no DC +24 V supply connected to the rear-panel Power In connector.
The external DC power supply has no input power or is malfunctioning.
One part of the Power PC’s power-up self-test has failed.
