Why does my Gastroback Coffee Maker keep pumping water?
    • A
      aschmidtSep 4, 2025
If the pumps continue to operate, the steam is very wet, or the hot water outlet leaks on your Gastroback Coffee Maker, it may be due to using de-mineralized or distilled water, which affects how the machine is designed to function. It is recommended to use cold, filtered water instead. Avoid water with no or low mineral content, such as demineralized or distilled water.

Why does espresso only drip from my Gastroback Coffee Maker?
    • M
      mcclainsarahSep 5, 2025
If espresso only drips from the portafilter spouts of your Gastroback Coffee Maker, with restricted flow, it could be due to several reasons. The coffee might be ground too finely, in which case you should use a slightly coarser grind. Alternatively, you might be using too much coffee in the filter basket, so try lowering the dose. Also, ensure you are not tamping the coffee too firmly; aim for between 15-20kgs of pressure. Lastly, the dual wall filter basket may be blocked; use the fine pin on the cleaning tool to clear the outlet hole on the underside of the filter basket.

If espresso runs out too quickly from your Gastroback Coffee Maker, the coffee may be ground too coarse, so try using a slightly finer grind. Also, you might not be using enough coffee in the filter basket, so increase the dose. Finally, ensure the coffee is tamped firmly enough, aiming for between 15-20kgs of pressure.

Why is there no crema from my Gastroback 42636?
    • J
      James MillerSep 6, 2025
If your Gastroback Coffee Maker produces no crema, it could be due to a couple of reasons. The coffee beans might be stale, so try buying freshly roasted coffee with a “roasted on” date. Also, if you're using single wall filter baskets with pre-ground coffee, make sure to use dual wall filter baskets instead.
