appliance is to be left unattended, if not in use, before cleaning, before attempting to move
the appliance, disassembling, assembling and when storing the appliance.
• Keeptheapplianceandaccessoriesclean.Followthecleaninginstructionsprovidedin
this book.
• Theappliance isheated bybuilt-inelectric heatingelements. Theapplianceor power
cord may never touch hot surfaces. Do not place the appliance or any part of it on or near
hot surfaces (e.g. burner, heater or oven). Do not use any part of the appliance (e.g. pot,
steamer) with any other device.
• Theapplianceisdesignedforbrewingespressoandcoffee.Therefore,somecomponents,
such as the group head, the portafilter and the steam wand become very hot during opera-
tion and hot water or steam escape.
• Donotoperatetheappliancewithadamagedcordorplugoraftertheappliancemal-
functions, or has been damaged in any manner. Immediately cease use and contact an
authorised service center for examination, repair or adjustment.
• Donotapplyanyforceduringoperationtopreventdamagetothecomponents.
• Donotleaveanyfooddryontheappliance.Alwayscleantheapplianceaftereachuse
to prevent a build up of baked-on foods (See: ›Care and Cleaning‹). Always keep the appli-
ance and the accessories clean.
• Afteryouhavefilledthecorrectquantityofgroundcoffeeintotheportafilter,youshould
press the ground coffee as evenly as possible. To do this, use the integrated tamper. The
ground coffee should not be pressed too hard.
• Wipecarefullytherimoftheportafilterofanyspilledcoffee.Therimshouldbecomple-
tely clean so that the porta filter can seal at the brew head pressure-tight. For an optimal
resultsthepressuregaugesshouldbelocatedinthecentralzone.
• Themoisturecontentofthecoffeegroundsintheportafilter,whichisduetothespecial
brewing technology of the machine, represents not a malfunction of the appliance.
• Leavethelidduringoperation,alwaysonthebeanhopper.
• Makesurethattheportafilterisfirmlyinsertedbeforeuseinthegrouphead.Neverre-
move the porta filter during operation.
• Storepackagingmateriasloutofreachofchildren.
• Donotoperatewithcarbonatedwater,butonlyinsoftwater(upto4°dH=German
hardness).
• Thisapplianceisintendedtobeusedinhouseholdandsimilarapplicationssuchas:
– staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
– farm houses;
