Care and cleaning of the range.
Lift-Off Oven Door
Lift the doorstraightup and off
the hinges.
Thegasket isdesignedwith a gap
atthe bottomto ailow for proper
air circulation.
Donotrubordean the doorgasket--
it hasanextremelylow resistanceto
abrasion.
If younotice thegasketbecomingworn,
frayedor damagedin anyway or if it
hasbecomedisplacedon the door,
youshouldhaveit replaced.
Theoven door is removable, but it is heavy.
Youmag need help removing and replacing
the door.
Toremove the door, open it a few inches
to the special stop position that will hold the
door open.Graspfirmly on e(_chside and lift
the door straight up and offthe hinges.
NOTE:Becarefu!not to place handsbetween
the hinge and the ovendoor flame since
the hinge couldsnap back and pinch fingers.
Toreplace the door, make sure the hinges
i are inthe special stop position.Position
the slots in the bottom of the door squarely
overthe hinges.Then lower the door slowly
and evenly over both hingesat the same
time. If the hingessnap back against
the oven frame, pull them back out.
To clean the inside of the door:
Donot allow excesswater to run into
any holesor slots inthe door.
,, Becausethe area inside the gasket is
cleanedduring the self-cle(_ncycle, you
do not need to clean this by hand. Any
soap left on the liner causesadditional
stainswhen the oven isheated.
_,Thearea outside the gasket can be
cleaned with a soap-filled scouring pad.
To clean the outside of the door:
Usesoap and water to thoroughly clean
the top, sidesand front of the oven door.
Rinsewell.You may also use a glass
cleaner to cleanthe glasson the outside
of the door.
,, Spillage of marinades,fruit juices,tomato
sauces and basting materials containing
acids may c(_usediscoloration and should
bewiped up immediately. When the
surface iscool,clean _nd rinse.
Donot useoven cleaners,cleansing
powders or harsh _brasiveson the
outside of the door.
Oven Bottom
Theoven bottom has a porcelain-enamel
finish.To make cleaning easier,protect
the oven bottom from excessivespilloversby
placing a cookie sheet on the rock below the
rack you are cooking on.This isp(_rticul(_rly
important when baking a fruit pieor other
foods with a high acid content. Hot fruit
fillings or other foods that are highly (_cidic
(suchas tomatoes, sauerkraut, and sauces
with vinegar or lemonjuice)may cause
pitting and damage to the porcelain-enamel
surface and should be wiped up immediately.
Wedon't recommend usingaluminum foil
on the oven bottom. It can affect airflow ifthe
holesare blocked and itcan concentrate heat
at the bottom of the oven, resulting in poor
baking performance.
Tocle(_nup spillovers,usesoap and water,
_n abrasive cleaner or soap-filled scouring
pad. Rinsewell to remove any soap before
self-cleaning.
