How to clean stained tub interior of GE GDT225 Dishwasher?
    • M
      Martha JonesSep 9, 2025
An overall yellow or brown film can be caused by iron deposits in the water; a special filter in the water supply line is the only way to correct this. Contact a water softener company. A white film on the inside surface can be caused by hard water minerals. Use Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid to help prevent these deposits. You can also run the dishwasher with citric acid (Part number: WD35X151) or Finish® Dishwasher Cleaner, following the directions on the label.

What to do if GE Dishwasher won't run?
    • M
      Michael GibbsAug 23, 2025
First, check the fuse or circuit breaker and replace or reset if necessary, removing other appliances from the circuit. Ensure the power is on, especially if it's controlled by a wall switch. Also, the control panel might be locked (see the Getting started section for unlocking instructions). As a last resort, try rebooting the control by turning off the power to the dishwasher for 30 seconds, then turning it back on.

Why GE GDT225 doesn't dry dishes?
    • J
      jrichmondAug 25, 2025
Ensure the dishwasher door is opened immediately after the Clean light comes on. Also, verify that the inlet water temperature is at least 120°F, use Wash Temp Boost, and select a higher cycle like Heavy. Finally, check and fill the rinse agent dispenser as needed.

What to do if water won't pump out of GE GDT225 Dishwasher?
    • M
      Michael GalvanAug 27, 2025
The drain might be clogged. If you have an air gap, clean it (refer to the CARE AND CLEANING section). If the dishwasher drains into a disposer, run the disposer to clear it. Check if your kitchen sink is draining well; if not, you may need a plumber.

Why is my GE Dishwasher so noisy?
    • P
      phuffmanSep 18, 2025
Normal operating sounds include beeping at the end of the cycle, the detergent cup opening, water entering the dishwasher, the motor stopping and starting, spray arms starting and stopping, and drain pump sounds. No action is required for these sounds. If dishes are rattling, ensure they are properly loaded (refer to the Loading section). If silverware is rattling against the door, place tall utensils in the upper rack.

Why doesn't the sanitized light come on in my GE Dishwasher?
    • A
      Anna DixonSep 22, 2025
The sanitized light won't illuminate if the door was opened and the cycle was interrupted during the final rinse. Avoid interrupting the cycle. Also, the incoming water temperature might be too low. Raise the water heater temperature to between 120°F and 150°F.

      Caitlin DawsonSep 8, 2025
The start status indicator light flashes if the door was opened or the cycle was interrupted. To restart the dishwasher, press the Start pad once and close the door within 4 seconds. If you want to cancel the cycle when the dishwasher is running, press the Start pad a second time.

How to remove white film from GE Dishwasher?
    • T
      thompsondanielSep 5, 2025
The white film is likely caused by low quality phosphate-free dishwasher detergent. To remove it, run a cycle with citric acid (WD35X151), which can be found online, or use Finish® Dishwasher Cleaner from your local grocery store. Pour the citric acid into the detergent cup, load the filmed items (excluding silverware), and run a complete cycle without detergent. Alternatively, use a vinegar rinse by pouring 1 cup of vinegar into the dishwasher just after the detergent cup opens. Repeat as needed. Using a rinse agent like Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid and a highly rated detergent such as Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent can help prevent future build-up.
