deposit

All
parts
in

throat
area
of

arc
chute
should
be
thorough

ly
cleaned
by
using
sandpaper
.

cleaning
should
be

the

removed

The

chute
fins

not
be
cleaned
.
Whenever
the
arc
chute
is
removed
,
loose
dust
and
dirt
should
be
blown
out
before
replacing
arc
chutes

Badly
pitted
or
burn

ed
contacts
should
be
replaced

probable
need
for
arcing
contact
replacement
.

If
the
contact
surfaces
are
only
roughened
or
galled
,
they
should
be
smoothed
with
crocus
cloth
or
draw
filed
.
After
contact
dressing
the
contacts
should
be
greased
with
a

Arcing
Contacts
-
When
the
arcing
contact
wipe
is
less
than
the
minimum
specified
under
ADJUSTMENTS
,
page

the
contacts
should
be
replaced
.
The
contacts
should
be
Inspected
for
uneven
wear
and
/
or
damage
using
a
mirror
to
inspect
the
stationary
contacts
.
Normally
it
will
not
be
necessary
to
remove
the
arc
chutes
for
this
1000
operation
servicing
unless
inadequate
wipe
or
contact
conditions
indicate
a
need
for
replacement
.
If
the
arc
chutes
are
removed
,
the
contact
braids
and
other
parts
subject
to
arc
-
ing
should
be
checked
for
possible
cleaning
or
replacement
.
Do
not
grease
the
arcing
contacts
under
any
circumstances
.
