the
rear

side

and
inter
phase
barriers
.

Wipe
all
insulating
parts
clean
of
smoke
deposit

and
dust
with
a
clean
dry
cloth
,
including
the
bushings
,
and
the
inside
of
the
barriers
.

.
All
parts
in
the
throat
area
of
the
arc
chute
should
be
thorough
-
ly
cleaned
by
using
sandpaper
.
This
cleaning
should
be
perform
-
ed
any
time
the
arc
chute
is
removed
.
The
arc
chute
fins
should
not
be
cleaned
.
Whenever
the
arc
chute
is
removed
,
loose
dust
and
dirt
should
be
blown
out
before
replacing
arc
chutes
.

the
condition

the
stationary

fingers
and
movable
contact
blocks
.
Badly
pitted
or
burn
-
ed
contacts
should
be
replaced
.

Note
:
burned
primary
contacts
indicate
the
probable
need
for
arcing
contact
replacement
.
)
If
the
contact
surfaces
are
only
roughened
or
galled
,
they
should
be
smoothed
with
crocus
cloth
or
draw
filed
.
After
contact
dressing
the
contacts
should
be
greased
with
a
-
very
thin
film
of

.

Arcing
Contacts
-
When
the
arcing
contact
wipe
is
less
than
the
minimum
specified
under
ADJUSTMENTS
,
page
6
,
the
contacts
should
be
replaced
.
The
contacts
should
be
Inspected
for
uneven
wear
and
/
or
damage
using
a
mirror
to
inspect
the
stationary
contacts
.
Normally
it
will
not
be
necessary
to
remove
the
arc
chutes
for
this
1000
operation
servicing
unless
inadequate
wipe
or
contact
conditions
indicate
a
need
for
replacement
.
If
the
arc
chutes
are
removed
,
the
contact
braids
and
other
parts
subject
to
arc
-
ing
should
be
checked
for
possible
cleaning
or
replacement
.
Do
not
grease
the
arcing
contacts
under
any
circumstances
.
