What to do if USB device doesn't operate correctly with Gefen Switch?
    • A
      Andrew ChapmanSep 5, 2025
If all LEDs are lit but your USB device isn't working correctly or is recognized as an 'Unknown Device', there could be several reasons: * The USB device itself might be malfunctioning. * The computer might not recognize the USB device. * The device's application software might not be working. To troubleshoot: 1. Disconnect the Gefen Switch from the computer. 2. Connect the USB device directly to the computer's USB port. 3. If it still doesn't work, check the device's user manual. 4. Update your system BIOS, chipset, or USB Host controller drivers from your System/Motherboard manufacturer’s website. 5. If it works when connected directly, try connecting another device to the Switch and then connecting the Switch to the computer.

What does orange Device LED on Gefen Switch mean?
    • J
      James SmithSep 18, 2025
If the Device LED is orange and the units are no longer functioning on your Gefen Switch, an overcurrent condition has occurred. This happens because the USB device is drawing more power than the USB specification allows (500mA). To resolve this, power cycle the Receiver.

Why are all LEDs off on Receiver unit of Gefen Switch?
    • B
      Brian DiazSep 16, 2025
If all the LEDs on the Receiver unit of your Gefen Switch are off, the unit isn't receiving power. This is likely because: * The Receiver unit isn't getting power from the 5VDC power supply. To fix this: 1. Ensure the 5VDC power supply is properly connected to the Receiver unit. 2. Check that the 5VDC power supply is connected to a live power source and that the Receiver power LED is illuminated.

How to troubleshoot all LEDs off on Sender unit of Gefen Switch?
    • L
      Lucas JamesSep 14, 2025
If all the LEDs on the Sender unit of your Gefen Switch are off, it means the unit isn't receiving power. This could be because: * The Sender unit is not getting power from the USB port. * The Sender unit is not getting power from the optional 5VDC power supply. To solve this: 1. Make sure the USB connection between the Sender and the host computer is properly installed. 2. Try moving the USB connector to a different USB port on the host computer.

    • B
      btravisSep 13, 2025
If the Link LEDs are on but the Host LEDs are off on your Gefen Switch, it could be due to several reasons: * The host computer is not powered on. * The Sender unit is not connected to the computer (when using the optional Sender 5VDC power supply). * The computer does not support USB hubs. To troubleshoot: 1. Disconnect all USB devices from the Receiver unit. 2. Disconnect the Sender unit from the computer. 3. Disconnect the Receiver unit from the 5VDC power supply. 4. Reconnect the Sender unit to the computer.

Why are Host and LINK LEDs blinking on Gefen Switch?
    • M
      Mark BassSep 12, 2025
If the Host and LINK LEDs on the Sender/Receiver units of your Gefen Switch are blinking intermittently, it suggests a firmware mismatch between the Sender and Receiver. To correct this: 1. Use a different Sender/Receiver pair that have the same firmware revision. 2. Upgrade the Sender/Receiver firmware; contact technical support for assistance.

What to do if the Receiver device LED is off on Gefen Switch?
    • R
      Richard DavisSep 9, 2025
If the Receiver device LED is off when a USB device is connected to the Receiver USB port on your Gefen Switch, it's likely that the appropriate driver for the USB device hasn't been installed on the computer. To fix this: 1. Install the required USB device driver on the computer before connecting the USB device to the Receiver unit. Check the USB device manufacturer’s website for details. 2. Consult your USB device documentation and power your USB device with the additional, USB device manufacturer supplied, power supply (if available).

Why is Host LED blinking on Gefen Switch?
    • E
      emccormickSep 7, 2025
If the Host LEDs on your Gefen Switch units are suddenly blinking after working correctly, it could be that the Receiver unit is in suspend mode. This can happen when the computer enters a Suspend/Standby state or when no USB devices are connected. To resolve this: 1. Recover/Resume the operating system from Suspend/Standby mode (refer to your operating system’s documentation). 2. Attach a USB device to the Gefen Switch.

If your Gefen Switch USB 400 FO units were functioning correctly, but the Host LED on the Sender/Receiver units suddenly starts blinking, it is likely that the Receiver unit is in suspend mode. This can occur when the operating system puts the USB 400 FO in suspend mode when the computer is put into Suspend/Standby state or when no USB devices are attached. To resolve this: 1. Recover/Resume the operating system from Suspend/Standby mode (see your operating system’s documentation). 2. Attach a USB device to the USB 400 FO.
