Proper maintenance will do more than keep you

help ensure trouble-free operation and maximu

efficiency of the various appliances and components
.
Failure to properly maintain the vehicle or its com-
ponents also may constitute a breach in you
r
warranty obligations
. See the various manufacturer'

manuals for specific maintenance instructions
.
EXTERIO
R
The acrylic finish on your motor home shoul
d
be washed frequently with lukewarm or cold water
.
DO NOT use hot water or wash in the direct rays o
f
the sun
. DO NOT use strong soap or chemical deter
-
gents
. All cleaning agents should be promptly flushed
from the surface and not allowed to dry on th
e
finish
. Use a cleaner which has been approved fo
r
acrylic finishes to remove oil, road tar, tree sap
,
bird droppings,
or
other foreign materials fro
m
your motor home
.
Your GMC dealer can furnish several polishes an
d
cleaners which you can use to help maintain th
e
original finish appearance and durability
.
Bright metal parts usually need only washin
g
with water to maintain luster
. However, chrom
e
polish may be used on chrome or stainless steel
.
Never use auto or chrome polish on aluminum trim
.
A coating of wax is recommended for all brigh
t
metal parts
.
UNDERBOD
Y
Corrosive materials used for ice and snow remova
l
and dust control should not be allowed to accumulat
e
under the body
. These materials can result in rustin
g
and deterioration of underbody components
. A
t
least once each year, preferably after a winter'
s
exposure, these corrosive materials should b
e
removed by flushing the underbody with plain water
.
AUTOMOTIVE SYSTE

. The engine cover can
be removed by pulling back the carpet near th
e
cover's base, lifting the bolt rings and removin
g
the two bolts
. To replace the cover, insert fron
t
edge into the retaining lip
. Place board on frame an
d
fasten both retaining bolts
.
CAUTION
: The interior engine access cove
r
must be properly sealed to prevent engin
e
exhaust from entering the vehicle
. Make certai
n
that carpeting or other materials do not interfer
e
with the installation of the access cover
.

GENERA

You should perform the following procedure
s
if you will not be using your unit for an extende
d
period
.
LP GAS SYSTE
M
Close the LP gas Service valve
. Extinguish al
l
pilots and close all LP gas valves
. Light a range burne
r
to consume any gas remaining in the lines
. Whe
n
the flame burns out, turn the range burner OFF
.
WATER TAN
K
Turn ON water pump
. Open all water faucets
.
Open the water tank drain valve and the hot and col
d
water line drain valves
. Water line drain valves ar
e
inside, near the water tank
. Drain the water heater
.
When the tank is empty, close all faucets and drai
n
valves
.
WATER PUM
P
When the water tank is empty, run the water
pump with the intake and the outlet hoses discon-
nected for about 1 minute or until all water i
s
expelled
. If possible, connect an air hose to one o
f
the hose connections and blow air through the pipe
s
to clear them of water
. Re-connect hoses
.
FURNAC
E
To shutdown the furnace for storage, turn OF
F
the LP gas valve and the thermostat
.
