This document describes the Gorenje Simplicity Collection Microwave Oven, models MO235SYW and MO235SYB.
Function Description
The Gorenje Simplicity Collection Microwave Oven is a household appliance designed for heating food and beverages using electromagnetic energy. It features a digital clock, a delay start function, and a child lock for safety. The oven offers various cooking modes including microwave, grill, and combination functions, with pre-set programs for common foods like pop-corn, vegetables, fish, pizza, and meat steak. It also includes a "Self-clean" function and an "Eco mode" for power saving.

Usage Features
Control Panel:
The control panel includes a display for cooking time, power, action indicators, and clock time. It features a "TIME" button for adjustment and a "START | STOP" button to initiate or temporarily pause cooking programs, also used for setting the child lock. A dedicated button is provided for door opening.
Components:
The oven consists of a Door Safety Lock System, Oven Window, Roller Ring, Glass Tray, Control Panel, and a Wave Guide (covered by a mica plate that should not be removed). A grill rack is included for grill or combination functions and is placed on the glass tray.
Setting the Clock:
In standby mode, turn the function knob to the CLOCK position, use the < and > keys to set the desired time (e.g., 8:30), and press "START | STOP" to confirm.
Delay Start:
This function allows programming a cooking program to start at a later time. For example, to start a 5-minute grill program at 10:30 when the current time is 9:00:
- Turn the function button to DELAY START.
- Use the
< and > keys to set the start time to 10:30.
- Turn the function button to the GRILL program (counter-clockwise direction).
- Use the
< or > keys to set the cooking time to 5:00.
- Press "START | STOP" to begin. The program will start automatically at the set time.
Child Lock:
To prevent unsupervised operation, the child lock can be activated. In standby mode, press and hold "START | STOP" for 3 seconds until a beep sounds and the lock indicator lights up on the display. To cancel, press and hold "START | STOP" for 3 seconds until the lock indicator turns off.
Self-Clean Function:
Place a glass of 200ml water in the oven, turn the function button to SELF CLEAN, and press "START | STOP". After 8 minutes, remove the glass and wipe the oven with a dry cloth.
Time Adjustment:
During operation, the operating time for functions like microwave or grill can be shortened or extended by pressing the < or > keys before confirmation.
Simplicity Knob Usage:
The Simplicity knob is used to select desired functions (cooking, defrost, grill, etc.). Icons on the button represent typical foods for each function, but are applicable to similar food types. The knob can also be turned to the start position "O" to STOP or CANCEL the selected function.
Eco Mode - Power Saving:
Press the < and > keys simultaneously to activate Eco mode. The display will turn off, minimizing power usage. To cancel, press any other button or open/close the door.
Cooking Programs (Examples):
- Microwave 100% (Cup of water/coffee/milk/tea): 1 cup - 200ml, 2 min 20 sec. Increase time for hotter or bigger cups.
- Microwave 100% (Pop-corn): 1 bag - 100g, 3 min 30 sec. Increase time for bigger bags.
- Microwave 50% (Vegetable): 300g carrots (sliced), 4 min.
- Microwave 30% (Defrost): Bread 0.5kg, 20 min. Decrease time for smaller pieces.
- Grill 85% (Fish): Fish 500g, 25 min. Turn fish after 12.5 min when signal beeps, then press START | PAUSE again.
- Microwave 30% + Grill 70% (Pizza): Pizza 350g, 11 min.
- Microwave 40% + Grill 60% (Meat steak): Meat steak 500g, 35 min. For crispier steak, press START/PAUSE 5 minutes before end, turn the steak, then press START/PAUSE again.
- Microwave 10% (Staywarm): 10 min.
- Self-clean: 1 cup - 200ml, 5 min.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning:
- Turn off the oven and unplug it before cleaning.
- Clean the inside of the oven with a damp cloth, avoiding harsh detergents or abrasives.
- Clean the outside oven surface with a damp cloth. Prevent water from seeping into ventilation openings.
- Clean the control panel with a soft, damp cloth; do not use detergents, abrasives, or spray-on cleaners.
- Wipe away steam accumulation on or around the door with a soft cloth.
- The glass tray can be removed and washed in warm sudsy water or a dishwasher.
- Regularly clean the roller ring and oven cavity floor with mild detergent, water, or window cleaner. Ensure the roller ring is replaced in the proper position.
- To remove odors, combine a cup of water with lemon juice and skin in a deep microwaveable bowl, microwave for 5 minutes, then wipe and dry with a soft cloth.
- Do not clean the appliance with steam cleaners, high-pressure cleaners, sharp objects, abrasive cleaning agents, or abrasive sponges and stain removers.
General Safety and Maintenance:
- Never touch heating or cooking surfaces during operation.
- Do not remove the cover due to microwave energy and high voltage.
- Ensure children are supervised and kept away from hot surfaces.
- Do not operate the oven if the door or door seals are damaged; contact a competent person for repair.
- Only use microwave-safe utensils.
- Keep an eye on the oven when heating food in plastic or paper containers due to the risk of ignition.
- If smoke is observed, switch off/unplug the appliance and keep the door closed.
- Be cautious with beverages as microwave heating can cause delayed eruptive boiling.
- Stir or shake contents of feeding bottles and baby food jars and check temperature before consumption.
- Do not heat eggs in their shell or whole hard-boiled eggs.
- Ensure the oven is cleaned regularly to prevent deterioration of surfaces and hazardous situations.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent, or similarly qualified persons.
- Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or worktop.
- Do not connect to an external timer switch or remote control system.
- The light bulb inside the oven must always be replaced by Gorenje service.
Installation:
- Remove all packing materials.
- Inspect for damage (misaligned door, dents, holes); do not use if damaged.
- Place on a horizontal, strong surface.
- Keep away from high temperature and steam.
- Do not place anything on top of the oven.
- Maintain at least 20 cm clearance from sidewalls and 30 cm from the rear wall for ventilation.
- Do not remove the turntable drive shaft.
- Ensure the AC outlet is easily accessible.
- The product must be correctly installed on an earthed socket (single-phase AC 230 V/50 Hz).
Environmental Responsibility:
At the end of its life, the appliance should be handed in at an official collection point for recycling, in accordance with European directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
