2 USING YOUR
BOILER
2.1 LIGHTING YOUR BOILER
The lighting procedure is:
1. Ensure that:
a) There is su󰀩cient fuel, of the correct type, in the
supply tank and that all fuel supply valves are open.
b) The water supply is on.
c) The electricity supply to the boiler is OFF.
d) The boiler On/O󰀨 switch is set to OFF.
e) The room thermostat (if tted) is at the desired setting.
f) The boiler thermostat is set to the required setting.
2. Switch the electricity supply to the boiler ON.
3. Set the boiler On/O󰀨 switch to ON.
If tted, set the programmer to ON (either central heating
(CH) or hot water (HW)).
4. The boiler will now light automatically.
5. If a programmer is tted, refer to the instructions supplied
with the programmer and set the CH and HW functions to
TIMED.
The boiler will now operate during the ‘on’ periods set on the
programmer.
2.2 IF YOUR BOILER FAILS TO LIGHT
Make the following checks:
1. Check that the boiler On/O󰀨 switch is set to ON.
2. Check that the programmer (if tted) is working and is set to
ON (CH or HW).
3. Check that all thermostats are set to the desired setting and
are calling for heat.
4. Check if the burner ‘Lock-Out’ indicator light on the control
panel (refer to Figure 2-2 for location) is lit.
If it is, press the lockout button on the burner to start the
burner. (See Figure 2-1)
If the burner fails to light and goes to ‘Lock-Out’ again, check
that you have su󰀩cient fuel in the storage tank and that the
fuel supply valve is open.
5. Check that the re valve in the oil supply line has not tripped.
6. Ensure that a fuse has not blown or that the electricity supply
has not failed.
7. Check to see if the overheat thermostat has operated (see
Section 2.5).
If the burner still fails to light after carrying out these checks then
a fault exists or the fuel supply is low. If you have su󰀩cient fuel,
switch o󰀨 the electricity supply to the boiler and contact your
service engineer.
2.3 TURNING OFF YOUR BOILER
To turn o󰀨 your boiler:
• For short periods-
Set the On/O󰀨 switch to OFF.
To restart, simply set the switch to On.
• For long periods-
Set the On/O󰀨 switch to OFF and switch o󰀨 the electricity
supply to the boiler. If required, the fuel supply valve may be
closed and the water and electricity supplies turned o󰀨 at the
mains.
To restart, refer to Section 2.1 (Lighting your Boiler).
