PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE CORRECTION
No sound when
ignition switch is
turned to "Start"
position
1. PTO control in the "On" position.
2. Direction control pedal no in
neutral.
3. One or both neutral switches out
of adjustment.
4. Blown fuse.
5. Discharged Battery.
6. Bad relay.
7. Loose battery cable(s).
1. Disengage PTO.
2. Place direction control pedal in
neutral.
3. Adjust as necessary.
4. Replace fuse.
5. Charge or replace battery.
6. Replace relay (contact Dealer).
7. Tighten battery cable clamp.
When ignition
switch is turned
to "Start",
solenoid "clicks"
and the starter
does not operate.
1. Discharged battery.
2. Battery cable connector corroded.
3. Starter damaged.
1. Charge or replace battery.
2. Clean cable connectors.
3. Replace starter (contact Dealer).
When ignition
switch is turned
to "Start", starter
operates but
engine does not
start.
1. Bad relay or relay connection.
2. Fuel tank empty.
3. Fuel valve turned off.
4. Engine spark plug(s) fouled.
5. Engine failure.
1. Replace relay or connections (contact
Dealer).
2. Fill tank with fuel.
3. Turn fuel valve on.
4. Clean or replace plugs.

Battery
discharged
1. Regulator-rectifier failure.
2. Fuse holder failure.
3. Engine alternator failure.
4. Battery failure.
1. Replace regulator or rectifier.
2. Check and replace as necessary.
3. Replace alternator.
4. Charge or replace battery.
Engine continues
to run when the
ignition is in "Off"
position.
1. Ground wire not connected.
2. Ignition switch failure.
1. Connect ground wire firmly to clean,
metal surface.
2. Replace ignition switch (contact
Dealer).
Electric clutch
won’t engage.
1. PTO switch failure. 1. Replace PTO switch.
Engine runs
rough or stops
after it gets hot.
1. Engine needs service. 1. See Engine Manual.
Fuse blows when
starting engine.
1. Dead short in system. 1. Look for worn, damaged or broken
wires. Contact Dealer.
TROUBLESHOOTING
