Release the trigger and start the machine again. * The chain is not lubricated. Lubricate the chain to decrease friction.

      Your GreenWorks Pole Saw bar and chain might get hot and smoke due to several reasons: * The oil tank is empty, so you need to fill it. * The discharge port is blocked. Remove the battery pack and clean any dirt from the discharge port. * The inlet opening of the inner oil tank is blocked. Clean the oil tank and fill it with clean bar and chain lubricant. * The sprocket is stuck and clogged with debris. Clean the sprocket and fill it with clean bar and chain lubricant.

      The bar and chain of your GreenWorks Pole Saw might get too hot and unable to cut due to: * The chain tension being too tight or too loose. Please, refer to the manual section about adjusting the chain tension. * A dull chain. Sharpen or replace the chain. * The chain being put on backwards. Take out the chain and turn it in the right direction.
