Usage Features

The lawn mower is designed for ease of use with several features:

  • Handle Adjustment: The handle can be unfolded and adjusted for operation, with quick-release levers and cam locks to secure it in position. Care must be taken not to damage cables during folding/unfolding.
  • Grass Catcher Installation: The grass catcher (8) is installed by opening the rear discharge door (6), engaging its hooks (14) onto slots (13), and then closing the door.
  • Mulch Plug Installation: For mulching, the mulch plug (4) is fitted into the discharge chute after removing the grass catcher and opening the rear discharge door.
  • Blade Height Adjustment: The cutting height can be adjusted between 1 1/8 and 3 1/8 inches (30-80 mm) using a height adjustment button (7) and gear.
  • Starting and Stopping: The machine is started by connecting to an approved outdoor extension cable, pushing and holding the start button (2), and then pulling the bail switch (1) towards the handle. Releasing the start button initiates operation. To stop, simply release the bail switch. Users are warned to wait for blades to fully stop before restarting and to disconnect from power after use.
  • Cord Retainer: A cord retainer is integrated to prevent the extension cable from disconnecting from the power supply during operation. Users are instructed to make a loop with the extension cable around the retainer and secure it.
  • Operation on Slopes: The manual provides specific guidelines for operating on slopes, recommending mowing across the face of slopes (never up and down) and exercising extreme caution when changing direction. It advises against mowing slopes steeper than 15 degrees or on wet grass.
  • Safety Features: The mower includes a start button and bail switch that must be engaged for operation, preventing accidental starts. It also emphasizes keeping children and bystanders at a safe distance (100 feet/30m) and never allowing children under 14 to operate the mower.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the mower's performance and safety:

  • General Maintenance: Before each use, inspect for damaged, missing, or loose parts. All fasteners and caps should be tightened. The machine should be cleaned with a dry cloth, avoiding water.
  • Blade Replacement: The blade (17) can be replaced by stopping the machine, disconnecting power, turning it on its side, preventing blade movement with wood, removing the blade nut (15) and spacers (16), and then installing the new blade, ensuring raised points engage the holes. Heavy gloves and wind cloth are recommended when handling the blade.
  • Storage: Before storage, the machine should be cleaned, and the motor should not be hot. Any loose or damaged parts should be replaced or tightened. The mower should be stored indoors in a dry area, locked up and out of reach of children.
  • Engine Care: The engine must be kept free from grass, leaves, or excessive grease to reduce the risk of fire.
  • Plastic Parts Care: Users are cautioned against allowing brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based materials, strong solvents, or detergents to touch plastic parts, as these can cause damage.
  • Service: For repairs or replacement parts, users are instructed to contact an authorized service center. Only original equipment manufacturer's (OEM) parts should be used.
  • Troubleshooting: A troubleshooting guide is provided to address common issues such as the machine not starting, uneven grass cutting, incorrect mulching, or difficulty pushing, offering solutions like checking handle position, extension cord connection, blade height, and grass catcher status.
