4. MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
Maintenance practices described below cover a preventive maintenance program, component checkout,
and general repair. Under normal operating conditions, periodic inspection and maintenance of the radar
system should not exceed a two-year period.
4.1 RADAR SYSTEM INSPECTION
4.1.1 Unit Mounting Structures
Inspect unit mounting trays and support structures for:
Q Loose or missing mounting hardware
Q Deformation
Q Damaged fasteners
Q Corrosion
4.1.2 Connectors
Inspect Connector Assemblies for:
Q Broken parts
Q Cracks in insulation
Q Deformed shells
Q Deformed clamps
Check Connector Contacts for:
Q Damage
Q Misalignment
Q Corrosion
Q Bad plating
Ascertain that all terminal connectors are secure
4.1.3 Wiring
Inspect wiring harnesses for:
Q Chaffing
Q Corrosion at grounding straps
Q Insulation cracks
