Overview

This document is an installation manual for the Haier AU042FNERA and AU052FNERA outdoor air conditioning units. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The outdoor unit operates on a "simultaneous control" type, meaning all connected indoor units must operate in either heating or cooling mode simultaneously. It is designed to be part of a multi-split air conditioning system. The manual emphasizes that the unit should only be installed or serviced by qualified personnel to ensure safety and proper functioning.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Models: AU042FNERA and AU052FNERA.
  • Refrigerant: R410A. This refrigerant operates at 1.6 times higher pressure than R22, requiring specialized tools for installation and maintenance.
  • Power Supply: 1PH, 220-240V~, 50/60Hz.
  • Indoor Unit Capacity (AU042FNERA): Total indoor capacity (100W) ranges from 61-157, with a maximum of 7 indoor units.
  • Indoor Unit Capacity (AU052FNERA): Total indoor capacity (100W) ranges from 70-182, with a maximum of 8 indoor units.
  • Operating Range (Cooling/Dry): Indoor DB: 18-32°C, WB: 14-23°C. Outdoor DB: -5-50°C, WB: 26°C.
  • Operating Range (Heating): Indoor DB: 15-27°C. Outdoor DB: -15-21°C, WB: 15°C.
  • Pipe Specifications:
    • Copper pipe material: Phosphoric oxidize seamless copper pipe, model C1220T-1/2H (diameter > 19.05mm) or C1220T-0 (diameter < 15.88mm).
    • Gas pipe diameters: Ø15.88mm.
    • Liquid pipe diameters: Ø9.52mm.
    • Pipe thickness varies by diameter, e.g., Ø6.35mm (0.8mm), Ø9.52mm (0.8mm), Ø12.7mm (1.0mm), Ø15.88mm (1.0mm), Ø19.05mm (1.0mm), Ø22.22mm (1.1mm), Ø25.4mm (1.2mm). For coil pipe with outer diameter 19.05mm, thickness should be over 1.1mm.
  • Maximum Piping Length: Total actual length 120m, longest piping L 60/70m, piping length of indoor unit furthest to first branch piping L(*) 40m.
  • Maximum Drop Height: Up outdoor 30m, Under outdoor 20m, between indoor units 10m.
  • Refrigerant Charging: Additional refrigerant charging per meter (kg/m) varies by liquid pipe diameter: Ø22.22 (0.35), Ø19.05 (0.25), Ø15.88 (0.17), Ø12.7 (0.11), Ø9.52 (0.054), Ø6.35 (0.022).
  • GWP: 2088. The product contains fluorinated greenhouse gases.
  • Power Cable Section (AU042FNERA): 6mm², Circuit Breaker 32A, Ground Fault Interruptor 32A 30mA below 0.1S, Ground wire section 6mm², Screw M5.
  • Power Cable Section (AU052FNERA): 10mm², Circuit Breaker 40A, Ground Fault Interruptor 40A 30mA below 0.1S, Ground wire section 10mm², Screw M5.
  • Communication Wire Section: 2-core × (0.75-2.0mm²) shielded wire.
  • Wired Controller Signal Line: 0.75mm² × 3 core shielding line, maximum length 250m.

Usage Features

  • Pre-startup Electrification: The unit should be electrified for 12 hours before startup to protect the compressor. If unused for a long time, power should be cut off.
  • Simultaneous Operation: All indoor units connected to this outdoor unit must operate in the same mode (heating or cooling). If different modes are set, the unit set later will be in standby.
  • 5-minute Delay Function: After power-off, the compressor will run about 5 minutes later upon restart to prevent damage.
  • Defrosting in Heating Mode: The unit automatically defrosts for 2-10 minutes, during which condensate will flow from the outdoor unit, and vapor may appear. The indoor motor will run at low speed or stop, and the outdoor motor will stop.
  • Protection Devices: The unit includes protection devices like a high-pressure switch that stops operation if conditions are abnormal (e.g., clogged air inlets/outlets, dirty filters).
  • Power Failure Recovery: If the unit has a re-start function, it will resume its previous state after power is restored. Otherwise, it needs to be switched on manually.
  • Heating Capacity: Heating capacity decreases as outdoor temperature drops, as it relies on absorbing outdoor heat energy.

Maintenance Features

  • Qualified Personnel: All installation and maintenance must be performed by qualified personnel.
  • Safety Precautions: Emphasizes strict adherence to safety warnings (AWARNING) and cautions (ACAUTION) to prevent death, serious injury, or accidents.
  • Earthing: Proper earthing is crucial to prevent electric shock. Earthing wire should not be connected to gas pipes, water pipes, lightning rods, or telephone earthing wires.
  • Refrigerant Handling: Only R410A refrigerant should be used. Specialized tools for R410A are required due to its higher pressure. Refrigerant must be charged in liquid state. Oxygen, acetylene, or other flammable/toxic gases are prohibited for testing.
  • Leakage Test: After piping connection, a leakage test must be performed using nitrogen at specified pressures (0.5MPa, 1.5MPa, 4.0MPa) to detect any leaks.
  • Evacuation: After the leakage test, the system must be evacuated to -101KPa or less for over an hour to remove air and moisture.
  • Pipe Insulation: Refrigerant pipes (liquid and gas) must be properly insulated to prevent water leakage from condensation. Insulation material thickness should be at least 10mm (or 15mm if ambient temperature is 30°C and humidity is over 80%).
  • Wiring Inspection: Electrical equipment (main power switch, circuit breaker, wires, terminals) must comply with national standards. Power supply voltage should be within 10% of the rated voltage. Insulation resistance between ground and electrical device terminals must be over 1MΩ.
  • Fault Codes: The manual provides a comprehensive list of digital tube indications on the master unit and corresponding failure codes with descriptions and remarks (resumable, once confirmation/un-resumable, 3 times in an hour/once confirmation/un-resumable).
  • Disassembly and Recycling: When moving, disassembling, or scrapping the air conditioning unit, contact the dealer for technical support. Refrigerant must be recycled by qualified enterprises. The unit's materials (lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers, cadmium) are within specified mass fractions.
