What to do if the switch stays ON and the motor keeps running on my HALE Control Unit?

If the switch on your HALE Control Unit stays ON and the motor keeps running, first, ensure that cables aren't touching each other or other objects. Check cables for defects like fraying, splits, or corrosion, and repair or replace them as needed. Verify that each cable is tight and torqued to specifications. Use a VOM to check the solenoid for proper operation; it should open and close with the control switch. If it doesn't, replace the solenoid. Also, ensure proper voltage (minimum of 9.0VDC for 12VDC systems, 18.0VDC for 24VDC systems).

If the switch chatters, pops, or clicks, but the motor doesn't work on your HALE Control Unit, check the solenoid base screws for tightness and corrosion, cleaning as necessary. Ensure proper grounding of the switch base to the motor and the motor to the chassis. Inspect cables for defects like fraying, splits, or corrosion, and repair or replace them. Verify that each cable is tight and torqued to specifications. Ensure the apparatus battery is fully charged. Use a VOM to check wires for proper voltage (minimum of 9.0VDC for 12VDC systems, 18.0VDC for 24VDC systems). Also, inspect the plastic body for cracks that may allow moisture to enter, and replace the solenoid if suspected.

What to do if the switch is dead and no click is heard on my HALE ESP-12?

If the switch is dead and you hear no click on your HALE Control Unit, check the solenoid base screws for tightness and corrosion, especially under the hold-down tangs, and clean accordingly. Ensure the switch base is properly grounded to the motor and the motor to the chassis. Perform a continuity test and check each cable for defects like fraying, splits, or corrosion, repairing or replacing as necessary. Verify the apparatus battery has a full charge. Use a VOM to check wires for proper voltage, ensuring a minimum of 9.0VDC for 12VDC systems or 18.0VDC for 24VDC systems. Confirm that all hardware is tight and torqued to specifications. If you suspect hairline cracks in the plastic body are allowing moisture to enter, replace the solenoid.

What to do if the pump loses prime or will not prime on my HALE ESP-12?

If the pump on your HALE Control Unit loses prime or will not prime: * Do not exceed an engine speed of 1,000 rpm to prevent possible pump damage. * Do not attempt suction lifts exceeding 22’ (6.7 meters) except at low elevation. * Remove any obstruction from the suction hose strainer and thoroughly clean the strainer screen. * Clean and tighten all suction connections, and check the suction hose and hose gaskets for defects, repairing or replacing as necessary. * Avoid placing any part of the suction hose higher than the suction intake, ensuring the suction hose is laid out with a continuous decline to the fluid supply. If a trap in the hose is unavoidable, repeated priming may be needed to eliminate air pockets. * Follow proper priming procedures, do not release the primer c...
