Preparations
1� Make sure there is adequate ventilation when charging batteries�
2� Do not charge batteries in boats or aircraft, or in enclosed areas�
3� If the battery has to be removed from the vehicle to be charged, or if the battery terminals
need to be cleaned, always disconnect the earthed battery terminal rst� To prevent sparks or
arcing, check that all electrical equipment in the vehicle is switched o
4� Clean the battery terminals� Make sure not to get any corrosive material in your eyes
5� Fill each cell with distilled water up to the electrolyte level specied by the battery
manufacturer� This helps to ventilate gas from the cells� Do not overll� For maintenance-free
batteries without cell covers, carefully follow the battery manufacturer’s charging instructions
6� Follow all the instructions from the battery manufacturer (such as whether the cell covers are
to be removed during charging and the recommended charging current)�
7� Check the battery voltage in the instructions for the vehicle� The appliance is only intended for
charging 12 V batteries
Positioning when charging
Place the charger as far away from the battery as the charging cables permit�
Never place the charger directly above the battery that is being charged – corrosive gas from the
battery can damage the charger� Never allow battery acid to drip onto the charger when lling
with liquid or checking the density
Never use the appliance in an enclosed area without adequate ventilation�
Batteries for marine use must be taken out and charged on land�
Never place batteries on top of the charger
