How to fix a Harman Kardon Receiver that won't turn on?
    • T
      toddpollardJul 26, 2025
If your Harman Kardon Receiver isn't turning on when you push the Main Power Switch, ensure the AC power cord is plugged into a working outlet. Check to see if the outlet is switch-controlled.

To address the issue where the Front-Panel Display of your Harman Kardon Receiver does not light up but sound is present, follow the instructions in the Display Brightness section on page 36 so that the display is set to VFD FULL, as the display brightness may be turned off.

What to do if my Harman Kardon AVR 4000 Receiver remote is not working?
    • S
      Sabrina ColemanAug 3, 2025
If your Harman Kardon Receiver doesn't respond to the remote, first, replace the remote batteries. If that doesn't work, ensure the AVR selector is pressed. Also, make sure nothing is blocking the remote sensor on the front panel, or connect a remote sensor.

Why is there no sound from surround speakers on my Harman Kardon AVR 4000?
    • J
      Jennifer EllisAug 7, 2025
If you're not getting any sound from your surround or center speakers on your Harman Kardon Receiver, it might be due to an incorrect surround mode. Try selecting a mode other than Stereo. Also, check your speaker mode and speaker-wire connections. If you are using (analog or digital) Dolby surround modes, the surround decoder may not create rear-channel information from nonencoded programs if you are using Stereo or Mono program material.

      Colton CollierAug 12, 2025
If your Harman Kardon Receiver displays lights but produces no sound or picture, first ensure that all input and speaker connections are secure. If the mute function is enabled, press the Mute button. Also, check the volume control and increase it.

Why does my Harman Kardon AVR 4000 Receiver have no sound and a red power light?
    • J
      James WhiteAug 16, 2025
If there's no sound coming from any speaker and the light around the power switch on your Harman Kardon Receiver is red, it's possible the amplifier is in protection mode. Check the speaker-wire connections for shorts at both the receiver and speaker ends. The issue might also be due to internal problems; in that case, contact your local Harman Kardon service depot.

What causes buzzing in the Harman Kardon Receiver tuner?
    • J
      Jodi HamiltonAug 20, 2025
If you are experiencing intermittent buzzing in the tuner of your Harman Kardon Receiver, try moving the unit or antenna away from computers, fluorescent lights, motors, or other electrical appliances, as the issue might be due to local interference.
