The JBL PartyBox Ultimate is a powerful speaker designed for immersive audio experiences, particularly in party settings. It offers a wide range of connectivity options, sound customization features, and interactive light effects, making it a versatile device for various entertainment needs.
The PartyBox Ultimate serves as a high-fidelity audio system capable of delivering robust sound output. Its primary function is to play music from various sources, including Wi-Fi streaming services, Bluetooth-enabled devices, USB storage, and auxiliary input. Beyond simple music playback, it incorporates features for live performance, allowing users to connect microphones and guitars for karaoke or live music mixing. The speaker also includes built-in light effects that synchronize with the music, enhancing the party atmosphere. For expanded sound, multiple PartyBox Ultimate speakers can be connected wirelessly or via daisy chain.
To power on, connect the speaker to AC power using the provided cord and press the power button. The speaker will automatically enter network standby mode after 10 minutes of inactivity, which can be exited by pressing the power button again.
The PartyBox Ultimate can easily connect to your home Wi-Fi network using the JBL One app. Once connected, you can stream music from various services like Chromecast built-in, AirPlay, Alexa Cast, and Spotify Connect directly from your smartphone or tablet. The JBL One app allows for easy setup, speaker renaming, and access to personalized playlists and speaker settings via the "Moment" button on the top panel. Multi-room playback is supported, enabling you to stream music to multiple Chromecast-enabled, AirPlay, or Alexa speakers simultaneously through the Google Home app or Amazon Alexa app.
For direct wireless audio, the speaker can be paired with Bluetooth-enabled smartphones or tablets. Press the Bluetooth button on the top panel to enter pairing mode and select "JBL PartyBox Ultimate" from your device's Bluetooth list. The speaker can memorize up to 8 paired devices and supports multi-point connection, allowing two Bluetooth devices to be connected simultaneously. To disconnect, simply turn off the speaker or disable Bluetooth on your device. The speaker will attempt to reconnect to the last connected device automatically when powered on.
Plug a USB storage device containing playable audio content into the USB port. The speaker will automatically switch to the USB source and begin audio playback. It supports audio files from the root folder up to 8 levels of subfolders in alphabetical sequence. The USB port also functions as a charging port for mobile devices.
Connect an external audio device using a 3.5 mm audio cable (not supplied) to the AUX IN port. Audio playback will start from the external device.
Basic music controls are available on the top panel: play, pause, resume, skip to the next track (double press), and skip to the previous track (triple press). The main volume can be increased or decreased by rotating the volume knob. The BASS BOOST feature can be toggled between level 1, level 2, or off to enhance bass levels. Note that skip operations are unavailable in AUX mode.
The speaker allows for mixing sound with a microphone or electric guitar (not supplied). Connect a microphone to the MIC 1 or MIC 2 socket, or a guitar to the MIC 2 socket (by switching the slider to the guitar icon). Adjust microphone volume, guitar volume, gain for MIC 1 or MIC 2, and echo, treble, and bass levels for the microphone using the dedicated knobs on the top and rear panels. Always set volumes to minimum before connecting/disconnecting instruments.
The PartyBox Ultimate features dynamic light effects. Press the light effect button to turn them on or off. Hold the button for more than 2 seconds to activate or deactivate strobe, starry, and outline lights. Rotate the knob to switch between different light patterns such as NEON, LOOP, BOUNCE, TRIM, SWITCH, or FREEZE.
The JBL PartyPad™ on the top panel allows users to select special sound effects like Horn, Repeater, or Filter by tapping. An online video tutorial is available via QR code.
Connect two or more PartyBox speakers for a larger sound experience. Press the multi-speaker connection button on both speakers to link them. The speaker connected to your Bluetooth device will act as the primary speaker by default. To disconnect, power off or press the multi-speaker connection button on either speaker.
Multiple PartyBox speakers can be daisy-chained using 3.5 mm audio cables (not supplied) through the DAYCHAIN IN/OUT ports for synchronized audio.
A mobile device dock is integrated into the top panel for convenient placement of smartphones or tablets.
To restore the speaker to its factory settings, hold the play/pause button and the multi-speaker connection button simultaneously for more than 10 seconds. This can be useful for troubleshooting Wi-Fi connection issues or other persistent problems.
The speaker is IPX4 splash resistant, meaning it can withstand splashes of water. To maintain splash resistance, always ensure that all protective covers are securely closed and ports are dry before connecting AC power.
A cable storage cabinet is provided on the back panel to keep the AC power cord tidy when not in use.
Always use the provided power cord. Avoid sitting or leaning on the speaker, or pushing it sideways, to prevent tip-over and damage. When carrying the speaker, ensure all cords are disconnected and hold the product firmly by the handle to avoid injury or property damage. Do not look directly at the light-emitting parts when the speaker lights are turned on.
