OPERATION
CHAIN LINE
Maintain a propergrip on the sawwhenever
theunitisrunning.Thefingersshouldencircle
thehandleandthethumbiswrappedunderthe
handlebar.Thisgripisleastlikelytobebroken
(byakickbackorothersuddenreactionofthe
saw).Anygripinwhichthethumbandfingers
areonthesamesideofthehandle,isdanger-
ousbecauseaslightkickofthesawcancause
loss of control.
WARNING:
Donotoperatetheswitchtriggerwithyourleft
handandholdthefronthandlewithyourright
hand.Neverallowanypartofyourbodytobe
inthechainlinewhileoperatingasaw.Improper
operationofthechainsawcouldresultinseri-
ouspersonalinjury.

in this section. Never kneel when using the
chainsawexceptwhenfellingatreeasshown
infigure15.Kneelingcouldresultinlossofsta-
bilityandcontrolofthesawresultinginserious
personalinjury.
Weightshouldbebalancedwithbothfeeton
solidground.
Keepleftarmwithelbowlockedina“straight
arm”positiontowithstandanykickbackforce.
Yourbodyshouldalwaysbetotheleftofthe
chainline.
Thumbshouldbeonundersideofhandlebar.
BASIC CUTTING PROCEDURE
Practicecuttingafewsmalllogsusingthefollow-
ingtechniquetogetthe“feel”ofusingthesaw
beforeyoubeginamajorsawingoperation.
Supportlogonasawhorseorcradle.
Taketheproperstanceinfrontofthewoodwith
thesawoff.
Squeeze the switch trigger and let the chain
acceleratetofullspeedbeforeenteringthecut.

Begincuttingwiththesawagainstthelog.
Keeptheunitrunningtheentiretimeyouare
cutting,maintainasteadyspeed.
Allowthechaintocutforyou;exertonlylight
downwardpressure.Ifyouforcethecut,dam-
agetothebar,chain,orunitcanresult.
Releasetheswitchtriggerassoonasthecut
iscompleted,allowingthechaintostop.Ifyou
runthesawwithoutacuttingload,unnecessary
wearcanoccurtothechain,bar,andunit.
Donotputpressureonthesawattheendofcut.
