OVERBUCKING
Beginonthetopsideofthelogwiththebottomofthe
sawagainstthelog;exertlightpressuredownward.
Notethatthesawwilltendtopullawayfromyou.
UNDERBUCKING
Beginontheundersideofthelogwiththetop
ofthesawagainstthelog;exertlightpressure
upward.Duringunderbucking,thesawwilltend
topushbackatyou.Bepreparedforthisreaction
and hold the saw firmly to maintain control.
LIMBING
See Figure 21.
WARNING:
Neverclimbintoatreetolimborprune.Donot
standonladders, platforms,a log,orinany
positionwhichcancauseyoutoloseyourbal-
ance or control of the saw, which could result
indeathorotherseriouspersonalinjury.
Limbingisremovingbranchesfromafallentree.
Workslowly,keepingbothhandsonthechain
sawwithafirmgrip.Alwaysmakesureyour
footing is secure and your weight is distributed
evenlyonbothfeet.
Leavethelargersupportlimbsunderthetree
tokeepthetreeoffthegroundwhilecutting.
Limbsshouldbecutoneatatime.Removethe
cutlimbsfromtheworkareaoftentohelpkeep
the work area clean and safe.
Branches under tension should be cut from the
bottomuptoavoidbindingthechainsaw.
Keepthetreebetweenyouandthechainsaw
whilelimbing.Cutfromthesideofthetreeop-
positethebranchyouarecutting.
PRUNING
