Why is my Hayward Inverter not producing enough chlorine?
- SShane JonesAug 20, 2025
Several factors can cause low chlorine levels. The DAILY CHLORINE OUTPUT setting may be too low, requiring adjustment. Low stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid) levels necessitate adding stabilizer to the pool. Insufficient filter pump run time, particularly for larger pools, should be increased. High salt levels need to be lowered. Very warm water increases chlorine demand, so increase Output % or filter run time. Other causes can be excessive scaling on the cell, high nitrogen levels in the pool water, or recent use of “Yellow Out” or similar treatments. Also, cold water below 50ºF will cause the Inverter to stop generating, and water between 50ºF - 60ºF will reduce output.
