Why can’t I get my Heat & Glo CURVE 100 Wood stove fire started and it smokes too much?

If you're having trouble starting a fire in your Heat & Glo Wood stove with excessive smoke, use dry kindling and more paper, and arrange the kindling and wood to allow for air movement. Check for a restricted cap or shroud. Use dry, seasoned wood and establish a bed of coals before adding wood. Do not use exhaust fans during start-up. Mix in hardwood if using extremely dry or soft wood. Check for correct vent height. Ensure the ARS door is completely closed and clean off the top of the ARS door for a complete seal.
