Overview

The Heatmaxx Wooden Fire Pit Chiminea, model SRCH06D, is an outdoor heating appliance designed to provide warmth and ambiance to your patio or backyard. It is intended for adult use only and requires careful handling due to the high temperatures it reaches during operation. The chiminea is designed to burn wood logs exclusively; coal, leaves, or other combustible materials should not be used.

Function Description

The primary function of the Heatmaxx Wooden Fire Pit Chiminea is to serve as an outdoor wood-burning fire pit, offering a contained and elevated space for a fire. Its design, reminiscent of a traditional chiminea, allows for efficient burning and directs smoke upwards through its chimney body. The unit includes a charcoal grid to support the burning logs and an ash tray assembly for convenient ash collection and disposal. A sliding door assembly provides access to the firebox for adding fuel and managing the fire, while a screen assembly encloses the fire to prevent embers from escaping. A chimney mesh cover and chimney cap are integrated to further contain sparks and protect the interior from the elements when not in use. The chiminea is supported by four sturdy legs, elevating the firebox to a safe and accessible height. A poker is included to assist with managing the logs and opening/closing the sliding door.

Usage Features

The Heatmaxx chiminea is designed for straightforward operation and safety, provided all instructions and warnings are followed.

  • Outdoor Use Only: This chiminea is strictly for outdoor use. It must be placed at least 12 inches from walls and 36 inches from any overhang to prevent fire hazards. It should never be used on wooden decks.
  • Fuel Type: Only wood logs should be burned in this chiminea. The use of coal, leaves, or other combustibles is prohibited.
  • Fire Management: To start a fire, the sliding door is opened using the provided poker. Logs, weighing less than 4 lbs each, are placed on the charcoal grid. The log height should not exceed 14 inches, and the fire height should not extend beyond 3/4 of the screen's height. Dry wood chips can be used to ignite the logs. Once the fire is lit, the sliding door should be closed using the poker.
  • Safety Precautions: The chiminea becomes very hot during use, and direct contact with bare hands should be avoided. It is crucial never to leave a burning chiminea unattended. Children and pets must be kept away from the unit at all times. The fire should always be completely extinguished when finished using the chiminea.
  • Proximity to Flammables: The chiminea should not be used near any flammable or combustible objects or materials.
  • Non-Cooking Appliance: The charcoal grid is not designed for cooking and should not be used for this purpose.
  • Tool Handling: The handle of the poker may become hot during and after use, so caution is advised.

Maintenance Features

Regular inspection and cleaning are essential to ensure the safety, longevity, and optimal performance of the Heatmaxx chiminea.

  • Inspection: The chiminea should be inspected regularly. This inspection should only be performed when the fire is completely out and the unit has cooled down.
    • Handles: Check that all handles are secure.
    • Components: Look for any signs of damage or rust on all components.
    • Repairs: If any damage is detected, the chiminea should not be operated until the necessary repairs are made.
  • Cleaning: Cleaning should only be performed when the fire is completely out and the chiminea has cooled down.
    • Ash Removal: After the fire is out, sweep the ash into the ash tray. The ash tray assembly can then be pulled out and emptied.
    • Smoke Stains: Smoke stains on the mesh cover and chimney cap can be removed using a damp cotton cloth.
    • Exterior Surface: The exterior surface can be cleaned with a mild dishwashing detergent or baking soda.
    • Stubborn Stains: For more stubborn surface stains, a citrus-based degreaser and a nylon scrubbing brush can be used.
    • Rinsing: After cleaning, rinse the chiminea clean with water.
    • Creosote Removal: Built-up creosote from components can be removed using a chiminea cleaning product.
    • Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use oven cleaner or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the product.
    • No Self-Cleaning Ovens: Never clean any part of the chiminea in a self-cleaning oven, as this may damage the finish.
    • Discoloration: Note that the finish may become discolored after repeated use, which is normal.
  • Storage: The chiminea should not be moved or stored until the fire is completely out, the coals are cold, and the unit is cool to the touch.
    • Ash Disposal: Once cooled, remove ashes and dispose of them properly.
    • Location: Store the assembled chiminea in a location away from children and pets.
    • Protection: To maximize product life, store the chiminea in a dry location, especially if a cover is not used.
