What to do if the Host Link Status LED is off on a Hewlett Packard Enterprise MSA 1040 Storage?
    • M
      Michelle BlackAug 17, 2025
If the Host Link Status LED is off, it means the link is down. You should: * Check and reseat cable connections. * Inspect cables for damage and replace if necessary. * Swap cables to see if the cable is defective and replace if needed. * Verify the switch is working properly, and test with another port if possible. * Ensure the HBA is fully seated and the PCI slot is powered on. * Review event logs in the SMU for specific fault indicators and follow any recommended actions.

What to do if the enclosure front panel Fault/Service Required LED is amber on Hewlett Packard Enterprise MSA 1040 Storage?
    • N
      Nicholas BlairAug 19, 2025
If the enclosure front panel Fault/Service Required LED is amber, it indicates a fault condition. If you were installing an I/O module FRU, the module likely failed its self-test. To resolve this: * Check the LEDs on the back of the controller enclosure to identify the faulty FRU, connection, or both. * Check the event log for specific information regarding the fault and follow any recommended actions. * If installing an IOM FRU, try removing and reinstalling the new IOM, then check the event log for errors. * If the issue persists, isolate the fault and contact an authorized service provider for assistance, as replacement may be necessary.

Why is the Input Power Source LED off on my Hewlett Packard Enterprise Storage power supply?
    • J
      John MortonAug 22, 2025
If the Input Power Source LED is off, the power supply is not receiving adequate power. To fix this: * Verify the power cord is properly connected and check the power source. * Ensure the power supply FRU is firmly locked into position. * Check the event log in the SMU for specific information regarding the fault and follow any recommended actions. * If the problem continues, isolate the fault and contact an authorized service provider.

What to do if the enclosure rear panel Fault/Service Required LED is amber on Hewlett Packard Enterprise MSA 1040 Storage?
    • L
      Leslie BuchananAug 28, 2025
If the enclosure rear panel Fault/Service Required LED is amber, one of the following errors occurred: a hardware-controlled power-up error, a cache flush error, or a cache self-refresh error. You can: * Restart this controller from the other controller using the SMU or the CLI. * If the problem persists, remove the controller and reinsert it. * If the issue still persists, contact an authorized service provider for assistance, as it may be necessary to replace the controller.

What does it mean if the Expansion Port Status LED is off on a Hewlett Packard Enterprise MSA 1040 Storage?
    • C
      Christopher TaylorAug 31, 2025
If the Expansion Port Status LED is off, the link is down. To resolve this: * Check cable connections and reseat if necessary. * Inspect the cable for damage and replace it if needed. * Swap cables to determine if the fault is due to a defective cable. Replace the cable if necessary. * Review event logs in the SMU for indicators of a specific fault in a host data path component and follow any recommended actions. * If the issue persists, contact an authorized service provider for assistance.

Why is the Voltage/Fan Fault/Service Required LED amber on my Hewlett Packard Enterprise MSA 1040 power supply?
    • N
      noah09Sep 3, 2025
If the Voltage/Fan Fault/Service Required LED is amber, the power supply unit or a fan is operating at an unacceptable voltage/RPM level, or has failed. You should: * Check that the power supply FRU is firmly locked into position. * Check that the power cable is connected to a power source. * Check that the power cable is connected to the power supply module.
