Overview

This document outlines the features, installation, and menu descriptions for the HIKVISION TURBO HD PIR Series Turret Camera with EXT Alarm out. This camera is designed for surveillance applications, offering a range of functionalities to enhance security and monitoring capabilities.

Function Description

The HIKVISION TURBO HD PIR Series Turret Camera is a high-performance surveillance device equipped with a CMOS sensor. Its primary function is to capture video footage, which can be viewed and managed through a TVI DVR and monitor. A key feature of this series is the integrated Passive Infrared (PIR) detection, which allows the camera to detect motion based on infrared radiation, triggering an external alarm. This makes it particularly effective for security applications where accurate motion detection and immediate alerts are crucial. The camera also incorporates an EXT Alarm out function, enabling it to connect to external alarm systems for comprehensive security integration.

The camera's imaging capabilities are enhanced by several built-in technologies. It features an IR cut filter with an auto switch, which automatically adjusts between day and night modes to optimize image quality in varying light conditions. For low-light environments, the camera utilizes SMART IR technology, which intelligently adjusts the intensity of its infrared illumination to prevent overexposure of objects closer to the camera, ensuring clear night vision. Additionally, the camera includes a strobe light alarm, providing a visual deterrent when an alarm is triggered.

The camera is designed for flexible installation and adjustment, featuring 3-axis adjustment for precise positioning. This allows users to set the pan, tilt, and rotation angles to achieve the optimal viewing area. The camera also supports alarm linkage with a DVR, enabling seamless integration with recording systems for event-triggered recording and alerts.

Usage Features

The camera offers a user-friendly OSD (On-Screen Display) menu, allowing users to configure various parameters to suit their specific surveillance needs. This menu can be accessed through a TVI DVR's PTZ Control interface, where users can navigate options using direction arrows and an Iris+ button for selection.

Key configurable parameters include:

  • Video Format: Users can select different video formats, such as 2MP@25fps, 2MP@30fps, 4MP@25fps, 4MP@30fps, or 5MP@20fps, depending on the model and desired resolution/frame rate.
  • Exposure Mode: The camera supports various exposure modes, including GLOBAL, BLC (Backlight Compensation), HLC (Highlight Compensation), and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range). GLOBAL mode provides normal exposure adjustment, BLC compensates for strong backlighting, HLC reduces the brightness of strong light spots, and WDR balances brightness in scenes with both very bright and very dark areas.
  • AGC (Auto Gain Control): This feature optimizes image clarity in poor light conditions, with adjustable levels (HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW).
  • Slow Shutter: Increases exposure time to enhance image sensitivity in low lux conditions, with settings ranging from OFF to x16.
  • Day/Night Switch: Users can set the camera to COLOR, B&W (Black White), or AUTO mode for day and night operation. In AUTO mode, the camera automatically switches based on light conditions.
  • IR Light Control: The infrared light can be turned ON or OFF, and SMART IR can be configured with two modes (MODE 1 or MODE 2) and an adjustable level (0 to 3) to prevent overexposure.
  • D-N Thresholds: Day to Night and Night to Day thresholds can be adjusted to control the sensitivity of switching between day and night modes.
  • Video Settings: This submenu offers adjustments for IMAGE MODE (STD or HIGH-SAT), WHITE BALANCE (AUTO or MANUAL with R-GAIN/B-GAIN adjustment), BRIGHTNESS, CONTRAST, SHARPNESS, SATURATION, 3 DNR (3D Digital Noise Reduction), and MIRROR (OFF, H, V, HV for image flipping).
  • Functions: This section includes settings for WHITE LIGHT (AUTO or OFF), ALARM MODE (SOLID or FLASHING for the strobe light), TIME SETTINGS for alarm duration (5s, 10s, 15s, 30s, 60s), PIR LEVEL (sensitivity adjustment for PIR detection), PIR DET MODE (OUTDOOR or INDOOR), MOTION DET (motion detection on/off), and PRIVACY (privacy mask on/off).
  • Factory Default: Allows users to reset all settings to their original factory defaults.
  • Save & Exit: Saves the configured settings and exits the OSD menu.

The PIR detection feature is highly customizable, with adjustable sensitivity (PIR LEVEL) and modes (OUTDOOR/INDOOR) to minimize false alarms and optimize detection accuracy for different environments. The alarm mode for the strobe light can be set to either solid illumination or flashing, providing flexibility in how alerts are visually presented.

Maintenance Features

The manual emphasizes several important safety and maintenance guidelines to ensure the longevity and proper functioning of the device:

  • Electrical Safety: Users must strictly comply with national and regional electrical safety regulations. The input voltage should meet SELV and Limited Power Source standards (12 VDC). It is crucial to avoid connecting multiple devices to a single power adapter to prevent overheating or fire hazards.
  • Physical Protection: The camera should be protected from physical shock and dropping. Sensor modules should not be touched with fingers.
  • Environmental Considerations: The camera should not be placed in extremely hot, cold (-40°C to 60°C), dusty, or damp locations. Exposure to high electromagnetic radiation should also be avoided. Good ventilation is required to prevent heat accumulation.
  • Cleaning: If cleaning is necessary, a clean cloth with a small amount of ethanol should be used to gently wipe the camera.
  • Laser Beam Protection: Users must ensure that the sensor surface is not exposed to laser beams, as this can burn out the sensor.
  • Sunlight/Bright Light Avoidance: The camera should not be aimed directly at the sun or other extra bright places.
  • Troubleshooting: In case of smoke, odor, or noise from the device, users should immediately turn off the power, unplug the power cord, and contact the service center.
  • No Disassembly: Users are explicitly warned not to disassemble the camera themselves, as this should only be done by unprofessional personnel. If the product does not function properly, users should contact their dealer or the nearest service center.
  • Packaging for Delivery: During delivery, the camera should be packed in its original packing or packing of the same texture to prevent damage.
  • Water Protection: For non-waterproof devices, the camera should be kept away from liquids during use.

The manual provides detailed installation instructions for various mounting scenarios, including ceiling/wall mounting without a junction box, mounting with an inclined ceiling mount, and ceiling/wall mounting with a junction box. These instructions ensure that the camera is securely fixed and properly aligned for optimal performance. Regular checks of the wall's strength and the use of appropriate screws (self-tapping for wood, expansion bolts for cement) are highlighted to ensure secure installation.
