The HIPOTRONICS OC-DI Series Digital Interface Oil Tester is a robust, high-performance, and quality instrument designed for accurately and reliably testing the dielectric strength of insulating liquids used in various electrical apparatus. Its rugged, lightweight, and portable design ensures years of safe and trouble-free operation in both field and laboratory settings.
Function Description:
The OC-DI Series is designed to meet testing specifications from around the world, offering test cells for ASTM D877, ASTM D1816, and IEC 156 testing standards. It provides the ability to use pre-programmed rates of voltage rise or allows the operator to create custom tests using "Basic Mode." An internal kilovoltmeter automatically records the breakdown voltage for each test sample. Each test can be saved into the unit's internal memory or to a USB drive.
The device features a user-friendly LCD touchscreen interface to control software for setting up and implementing oil tests. It includes a "Basic Mode" for standard automatic oil tests that ramp up to a desired voltage until breakdown, and a "Multi-Step Mode" for custom tests where the user can program several ramping stages. The "Reports" section allows users to view and export previously saved tests, while the "Settings" window enables configuration of basic test or system parameters.

Usage Features:
- LCD Touchscreen Interface: Used to control software for setup and implementation of oil tests.
- Mains Input: For powering or recharging the unit. The input switch must be in the 'ON' position for charging.
- Ground Terminal: Connects the chassis to a proper ground for safety.
- Power Button: Turns the unit interface on/off. A green light indicates the unit is on. Press and hold to turn off.
- USB Port: For inserting a USB drive to export test data.
- Status Indicator Bar: Displays current window, temperature/humidity, battery level, and date/time. Green when high voltage is off, red when high voltage is on.
- Basic Mode: Allows setting parameters such as number of tests, ramp rate, wait time (between individual breakdown tests), and dwell time (voltage hold at maximum limit). Users can select pre-loaded industry standards or customize tests.
- Multi-Step Mode: Enables customization of multiple ramping sequences. Users can define ramp rate, target voltage, and dwell time for each step. Additional parameters like electrode type, stir option, number of ramp tests, wait time, and output frequency can be adjusted.
- Reports: Displays saved test data, including average breakdown voltage, standard deviation, breakdown range, and a graph of breakdowns. Reports can be exported to a USB drive, containing detailed information such as individual breakdowns, frequency, stir, and temperature/humidity during the test.
- Settings: Offers two tabs: "Test Parameters" to adjust default test parameters (e.g., voltage, number of tests, frequency, ramp rate, dwell time) and "System" settings (date/time, touchscreen brightness, language). Users can choose to load system presets or parameters from the most recent test.
- Safety Features: The unit will shut off high voltage and pause the test if the test chamber cover is opened during operation.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: The instrument should be cleaned with a lint-free cloth, slightly moistened with mild household cleanser, alcohol, or spirits. Caustic cleansers and solvents should be avoided.
- Calibration: The instrument is factory-calibrated. A periodic calibration every year is recommended.
- Storage: If unused for extended periods, it is recommended to leave the oil tester on trickle charge to prevent internal batteries from draining. Protecting the instrument from moisture and dust with a suitable covering is also advised.
- Packing and Transport: The oil test cell must NOT be shipped inside the unit. The packing provides satisfactory protection for normal transport, but care should be taken. If the original packing crate is unavailable, an equivalent standard or better should be used. Protect the instrument from mechanical damage with padding and mark the container with "Fragile" and "Protect from moisture" symbols.
- Recycling: At the end of its life, the instrument can be disassembled and recycled. It is constructed of metal (mostly aluminum) and synthetic materials, which can be separated and disposed of according to local rules and regulations.
- Customer Support: For persistent problems or faulty operation, contact HIPOTRONICS Customer Support. Providing detailed information (failure description, used settings, DUT type, firmware version, serial number, printouts, pictures) helps expedite support. Software version and serial number can be found in "Settings."
