Overview

This document serves as a Quick Setup Guide for Hisense 55U8G, 65U8G, and 85U8G television models. It provides essential information for setting up and using the TV, along with important safety precautions, connection instructions, and details about the remote control. Users are advised to read this guide thoroughly and retain it for future reference. For more detailed instructions, the User Manual or E-Manual should be consulted.

Important Safety Precautions

The manual highlights several safety symbols: a lightning bolt within a triangle indicates dangerous voltage, while an exclamation mark within a triangle signifies important operating and maintenance instructions. An "ATTENTION RISK OF SHOCK ELECTRIC" warning advises against opening the back cover, stating that only qualified technicians should operate inside the TV. The AC voltage symbol indicates the rated voltage. A square within a square denotes a Class II product (55"), meaning it does not require a protective earthing connection, while a circle with a line indicates a Class I product (65"/85"), which requires a protective earthing connection.

Disposal of Used Electrical & Electronic Equipment

Packaging and electrical goods should be recycled appropriately and not treated as household waste. Users are instructed to dispose of this equipment at an applicable collection point for electrical and electronic waste. Proper disposal helps prevent environmental and human health hazards and conserves natural resources. For more details, users should contact their local city office, waste disposal service, or the shop where the product was purchased.

Warning

Never place the television in an unstable location, as it could fall and cause serious injury or death, especially to children. Simple precautions include using manufacturer-recommended stands, furniture that can safely support the TV, and ensuring the TV does not overhang the supporting furniture. Avoid placing the TV on tall furniture without anchoring both the furniture and the TV to a suitable support. Do not place the TV on cloth or other materials that may be between the TV and supporting furniture. Educate children about the dangers of climbing on furniture to reach the TV or its controls. These considerations also apply if an existing TV is being retained and relocated.

Safeguards

Users are advised to read and follow all safety and operating instructions. Unplug the TV from the wall outlet before cleaning and use a lightly dampened cloth, avoiding liquid, abrasive, or aerosol cleaners. If a wall mount bracket is not supplied, it can be purchased separately. Avoid dripping or splashing liquids onto the product, and do not place liquid-filled objects on it. Do not place the TV on an unstable cart, stand, or table. Ensure proper ventilation by not covering cabinet slots and openings, maintaining a minimum 10cm gap around the unit, and keeping the rear of the TV 6cm from the wall. The TV should be operated only from the power source indicated on the marking label. Power-supply cords should be routed to prevent walking on or pinching. Unplug the TV during lightning storms or when left unattended for long periods to prevent damage from lightning or power-line surges. An outside antenna system should not be near overhead power lines. Avoid overloading wall outlets and extension cords to prevent fire or electric shock. Never push objects into TV openings or spill liquid into the TV. If an outdoor antenna or cable system is connected, ensure it is grounded. Do not attempt to service the TV yourself; refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Unplug the TV and refer to qualified personnel if the power cord is damaged, liquid has spilled, objects have fallen into the TV, or it has been exposed to rain or water. If the TV does not operate normally, adjust only the controls covered in the operating instructions. If the TV has been dropped, the cabinet damaged, or it exhibits a distinct change in performance, service is required. When replacement parts are needed, ensure the service technician uses manufacturer-specified parts. After service, ask the technician to perform safety checks. The product should be situated away from heat sources and naked flame sources. A plastic smell from the TV is normal and will dissipate over time. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types. Do not expose batteries to heat or fire, and ensure correct polarity. The device should not be exposed to dripping or spraying liquids. To fully disconnect the TV, remove the power plug from the wall socket. Class I construction apparatus must be connected to a MAINS socket outlet with a protective earthing connection.

Accessories List

The TV comes with a Quick Setup Guide, Remote Control, AAA Batteries (x2), Screws (x4), Base Stands (x2, specific to 55"/65" or 85" models), Power Cords (x1, specific to 55" or 65"/85" models), an RCA Jack to AV Cable (x1), and a Cover Plate (x1, only for 85" models). Actual product appearance and accessories may vary by model, country, or region.

Installing the Stand or Wall Mount Bracket

Before installation, disconnect the AC power cord. The TV display is fragile, so avoid scratching or damaging the screen. After installation, ensure the TV is steady before removing any protective film. For 55"/65" models, place the TV facedown on a soft, flat surface. Insert the two stands into the bottom slots and secure them with four M5×16 screws. For 85" models, two people are required. Remove buckles from the carton box, take out the upper box and cushion, and place cushions parallel with the ground, grooves face-up, with a distance between them less than the base holes. Two people should hold the top of the TV and support its bottom or small handles to lift it vertically into the grooves of the upper cushions. One person holds the TV from the front while another installs the stand using four M5×16 screws. Remove the cable clamp from the stand, secure the stand, and then restore the cable clamp. After installation, remove the handles and move the TV to its designated spot. Note that A-type (L1R1) and B-type (L2R2) spans can be selected for base stands, but they cannot be mixed.

Installing the Wall Mount Bracket

Before mounting, remove the TV stand if attached and ensure the wall mount bracket supports the TV's weight. Follow the instructions provided with the wall mount bracket; incorrect mounting can cause property damage or personal injury. For 55"/65" models, place spacers between the TV and bracket. The tilt angle between the TV screen and the vertical surface should not exceed 15 degrees. For 85" models, the tilt angle should not exceed 5 degrees. Standard dimensions for wall mount hole patterns are 400 × 300 mm (55"), 400 × 400 mm (65"), and 800 × 400 mm (85"). Wall mount screw sizes are M6 (55"/65") and M8 (85"), with a length of 9.5-11.5 mm. The diameter and length of screws vary by bracket model. Wall mount brackets are optional and may not be included.

TV Front

The TV front features a MIC, a --/ control button for Hands-free Wake-up, a Joystick button (Standby / Source), a Remote sensor, and a Power indicator. The remote sensor receives signals from the remote control; avoid placing objects near it. The power indicator is off when the TV is on and white in standby mode. The Standby / Source button selects input sources or puts the TV in standby mode. The VOL +/- joystick adjusts volume, and the CH +/- joystick controls channels. The picture is for reference only. Powering on the TV takes several seconds; avoid rapidly turning it off to prevent abnormal operation. Hands-free Wake-up and some features are available only in limited countries/regions.

TV Rear

The rear panel includes various connection jacks. Users should check the position and type of jacks before making connections to avoid image or color problems and ensure all connections are tight and secure. The TV may not be compatible with all external devices; refer to the external device's user manual for compatibility. Do not connect external equipment while the TV's power cord is plugged in to prevent electric shock. The service jack is for factory testing purposes only and not for external device connection. For 85" models, after terminal connections are finished, install the Cover Plate from the accessory bag to cover the terminals.

Making Connections

  • ANT: Connect an outdoor VHF/UHF antenna or cable to the TV JACK.
  • HDMI / AV: Connect an HDMI or AV cable from external AV equipment. No sound connection is needed for HDMI to HDMI. If the signal resolution doesn't match the specification table, adjust the device settings. To select HDMI / AV, press the [INPUT] button, navigate to the desired source, and press [OK]. HDMI provides better video quality, while AV provides good quality.
  • HEADPHONE: Connect headphones for audio output. Ensure the headphones do not have a microphone function, as it may not be supported. Excessive sound pressure from earphones can cause hearing loss.
  • DIGITAL AUDIO OUT: Connect to an external digital audio system. Decrease TV and system volume before connecting to avoid sudden loud sounds.
  • eARC/ARC: Connect an HDMI cable from an external digital audio system. eARC/ARC enables the TV to output digital sound directly through an HDMI cable, but only when connected to an audio receiver that supports eARC/ARC. This port cannot be used as a signal input simultaneously.
  • USB: Connect USB1.1 and USB2.0 devices like hard drives, USB sticks, and digital cameras for browsing photos, listening to music, and watching movies. When connecting a hard disk or USB hub, always connect its mains adapter to the power supply. USB 1.1 or USB2.0 devices requiring more than 500mA or 5V may not be supported. The maximum supported current for USB 3.0 is 1A (for some models); exceeding this may result in damage or data loss. Certain digital cameras may not be compatible.
  • LAN (Wired setup): Connect the TV's LAN port to an external modem or router using an Ethernet/Cat 5 cable. A modem or router supporting Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is recommended, as it automatically provides IP addresses, subnet masks, gateways, and DNS.
  • Wireless setup: Connect the TV to a wireless network using a wireless router or modem. The TV's built-in Wireless LAN Adapter supports IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac protocols. The built-in adapter must be used, as external USB network adapters are not supported. If the wireless router supports DHCP, connection is easier. Security systems not listed (WPA, WEP, WPA2) will not work. For smooth network performance, the router and TV should be within 10 meters.

Remote Control

The remote control includes a Microphone, Power Standby button, Input button, number buttons (1-9, 0), GUIDE button, CH.LIST button, Quick setup button, Navigation buttons (Up/Down/Left/Right), OK button, Playpad keys, EXIT button, Home screen button, Volume (up/down) buttons, Channel (up/down) buttons, and Mute button. Quick access buttons to apps are also present. The included remote control may vary by model, country, or region.

Installing Batteries in the Remote Control

Press the switch to pop up the battery case. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and - ends). Push the battery case back. Product images are for reference. Dispose of batteries in a designated area, not in fire. Do not mix battery types or combine used and new batteries. Remove depleted batteries immediately to prevent acid leakage. If not using the remote for a long time, remove batteries. Do not expose batteries to excessive heat. Battery chemicals can cause a rash; clean the compartment with a cloth and wash skin immediately if contact occurs.

Pairing the Remote Control (only for Bluetooth remote control)

Pair the remote to the TV after powering it on, keeping it within 3 meters. Press any button (except power and mic) to pair. In special cases, press and hold the [ ] button. If an unknown error occurs due to interference, remove the cause and re-pair. If the remote malfunctions while battery power is normal, remove batteries, press any key for 1-2 seconds, and reinsert them. The remote cannot be paired while the TV is in standby mode.

Remote Control Operation Range

The remote control works up to 8 meters in front of the TV. Its controlled horizontal angle is within ±30° and vertical angle within ±15° from the remote sensor, at a distance of 6 meters. Operating distance may vary with room brightness.

Disposal of this unit

The product should not be damaged, dismantled, or thrown in municipal waste. It should be packed and handed over to an authorized re-cycler.
