How to prevent snipe on Hitachi P13F?
    • T
      Tammy SmithAug 19, 2025
Snipe (gouging at the ends of the board) on your Hitachi Planer can occur due to several reasons. It may be due to dull blades, which require replacement. Long boards may not be adequately supported. Uneven force on the cutterhead, or the rollercase not being level with the base, can also cause this. Lumber not butted properly may be another cause. Support long boards. Gently push the board when it is in contact with only one feed roller. Adjust the rollercase. Butt each piece of stock end-to-end as boards pass through the planer.

Why does my Hitachi P13F Planer cause torn grain?
    • K
      kaylamerrittAug 22, 2025
Torn grain when using the Hitachi Planer can result from several factors: taking too heavy a cut, blades cutting against the grain, or dull blades. Review the operation of the planer. Replace the blades according to the instructions.

What to do if board stops moving past outfeed roller on Hitachi P13F?
    • L
      Laura PalmerAug 27, 2025
If the board feeds inside your Hitachi Planer but stops moving past the outfeed roller, it could be due to a couple of reasons. The outfeed rollers may not be able to rotate because of clogging with chips, or there may be too much pressure on the cutterhead from a long workpiece. Clear the clogging, use a dust collector chip chute. Use support stands to support workpieces longer than 24”.

Why is it hard to adjust the rollercase on my Hitachi P13F?
    • E
      Eileen ParkerAug 30, 2025
If the rollercase elevation on your Hitachi Planer adjusts with difficulty, it could be due to several reasons: dirty gears, dirty elevation screws, worn gears or elevation screws, friction between the rollercase and covers, the rollercase not being parallel with the planer base, or the rollercase lock being engaged. Clean and lubricate the gears and elevation screws. Replace the gears and elevation screw if worn. Clean and lubricate where there is friction. Adjust the rollercase. Release the rollercase lock.
