Overview

This document is a remote controller manual for a HITACHI air conditioner, specifically model RC-AGU1EA0A. It details the functions, usage, and maintenance features of the remote controller.

Function Description

The remote controller operates the air conditioner, controlling various functions and settings from a range of approximately 7 meters. The range may be shorter if indoor lighting is electronically controlled.

On/Off Button: Starts or stops the air conditioner operation. Mode Selector Button: Cycles through operation modes: Cool, Dry, and Fan. Temperature Button: Adjusts the room temperature setting. Holding the button changes the value quicker. Fan Speed Button: Selects the fan speed (Auto, Silent, Low, Medium, High, Super High). Powerful Button: Activates maximum power operation during Dry, Cool, or Fan modes for 20 minutes. After this period, the system reverts to previous settings. This function is canceled if SleepSense, Smart Eco, Silent Mode, or My Mode is active. Silent Button: Activates Silent Mode, changing the fan speed to a silent setting during Dry, Cool, or Fan operations. This mode is canceled by Powerful operation, auto restart, or pressing Mode or My Mode buttons. SleepSense Button: Detects human movement, location, and temperature to adjust set temperature and fan speed for comfortable and energy-saving sleep. If no movement is detected, the temperature increases (in cooling mode) and fan speed decreases over time. Big activity resumes previous settings, while small activity decreases temperature (in cooling mode) and increases fan speed. Smart Eco Button: Detects the presence of people in the room. If no one is detected for 20 minutes, the set temperature is shifted for energy saving. If no one is detected for 60 minutes, the temperature is shifted further. The unit returns to normal operation when human movement is detected. This function can also be set with an "Auto-Off" feature, where the unit turns off automatically if no one is detected for 60 minutes during Eco operation. FrostWash Button: Initiates the FrostWash operation, which cleans the indoor heat exchanger by freezing and thawing to remove dust and dirt. This function can be started manually or automatically. Up/Down Button: Controls the angle of the horizontal air deflector. Pressing it once starts swinging, pressing again stops it at the current position. Left/Right Button: Controls the angle of the vertical air deflector. Pressing it once starts swinging, pressing again stops it at the current position. On Timer Button: Sets a specific time for the air conditioner to turn ON. Off Timer Button: Sets a specific time for the air conditioner to turn OFF. My Mode Button: Allows programming and saving up to three personalized comfortable settings for mode, temperature, fan speed, and timer. Filter Sign Reset Button: Resets the filter sign on the indoor unit after the air filter has been cleaned. Reset Button (Hardware Reset): Resets the remote controller hardware to default settings in case of display issues or unresponsiveness.

Usage Features

Backlight Function: The LCD panel lights up for approximately 10 seconds when any key is pressed, allowing readings in the dark. Battery Installation: Requires two new batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Old and new batteries, or different types, should not be mixed. Batteries should be removed if the remote controller is not used for 2-3 months. Clock Setting: The clock can be set by pressing and holding the Timer ON or Timer OFF button for 5 seconds, then using the Temperature Up/Down buttons to adjust the time. Auto Restart Control: In case of a power failure, the air conditioner automatically restarts with previous operation mode and airflow direction settings when power is restored. This function is not available when a timer is set. Dry Mode: Dehumidifies the room when the temperature is above 16°C. The recommended temperature range for dehumidifying is 20.0°C to 26.0°C, with an adjustable range of 16.0°C to 32.0°C. Cool Mode: Operates for cooling when the outdoor temperature is between -10°C and 46°C. The temperature range can be set between 16.0°C and 32.0°C. FrostWash (Auto Mode) and Fan Reverse (Auto Mode): These functions can be enabled or disabled by pressing the Temperature Up/Down and FrostWash buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds while the remote control is in OFF mode. FrostWash (Auto Mode) activates based on accumulated operating hours, operation duration, or human sensor detection. Fan Reverse (Auto Mode) rotates the outdoor fan in reverse to blow away dust when the unit is stopped. Power Safe (Max Current Switching): Limits the maximum current drawn by the air conditioner to prevent breaker trips. It reduces compressor speed, which may result in less cooling performance. This setting is stored in memory and remains active even after battery replacement or reset. Auto Clean Operation: After cooling or dehumidifying operation, the indoor unit fan dries the heat exchanger for about 60 minutes to suppress mold generation. This function can be set or canceled by pressing the Temperature Up and On Timer buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds in OFF mode.

Maintenance Features

Battery Replacement: Change batteries when the LCD display restarts or there is no response from the air conditioner. Filter Sign Reset: After cleaning the air filter, press the Filter button in OFF mode to reset the filter sign on the indoor unit. Remote Controller Reset: Use a pointed item to press the Reset button to restore default settings, except for some special functions activated by the user.
