SPECIFICATIONS
ThankyouforchoosinganHKInstrumentsDPTseriesdierenal
pressuretransmier.TheDPTseriesisintendedforuseincommer-
cial environments. It is designed with six unit selecons (Pa, kPa,
mbar,inchWC,mmWC,psi)andeighteldselectablemeasurement
ranges (unidireconal and bi-direconal) to meet yourapplicaon
requirements. The DPT-R8 series is comprised of the DPT250-R8
with ranges from 25 Pa to 250 Pa, the DPT2500-R8 with ranges
from 100 Pa to 2500Pa, and the DPT7000-R8 with ranges from
1000Pato7000Pa.
All DPT-R8 series dierenal pressure transmiers are available
withdisplayandautozerocalibraon.

Overview

The HK Instruments DPT-R8 series differential pressure transmitter is a user-friendly measuring device designed for commercial HVAC/R systems. It offers versatile functionality with six selectable units (Pa, kPa, mbar, inchWC, mmWC, psi) and eight field-selectable measurement ranges (unidirectional and bi-directional) to meet diverse application requirements. The series includes models like the DPT250-R8 (25 Pa to 250 Pa), DPT2500-R8 (100 Pa to 2500 Pa), and DPT7000-R8 (1000 Pa to 7000 Pa). All DPT-R8 series transmitters are available with an optional display and autozero calibration.

Function Description

The DPT-R8 series devices are commonly used for various monitoring and control applications in HVAC/R systems:

  • Fan, blower, and filter monitoring: Ensures optimal performance and identifies potential issues.
  • Pressure and flow monitoring: Provides accurate data for system analysis and control.

Usage Features

  • Installation: The device can be mounted on a duct, wall, or panel. Users mark screw holes using the device as a template and secure it with appropriate screws. Wiring involves routing cables through a strain relief and connecting them to the terminal block, ensuring proper grounding for CE compliance.
  • Configuration (Step 3):
    1. Measurement Unit Selection (Step 4): Install a jumper on J5, push the zero button to cycle through units (Pa, kPa, mbar, inchWC, mmWC, psi) on the display, then remove the jumper when the desired unit is visible.
    2. Measurement Range Selection (Step 5): Determine the range number from Chart 1 based on the model and selected unit. Then, use Chart 2 to identify the corresponding jumper settings for J1, J2, and J3 and install them.
    3. Response Time Selection (Step 6): Install a jumper on J4 for an 8.0-second response time or remove it for a 0.8-second response time. A longer response time helps smooth out unstable pressure fluctuations in airflow applications.
    4. Zeroing the Device (Step 7):
      • Manual Pushbutton Zero Point Calibration: Disconnect pressure tubes, push the zero button until the LED turns on and the display reads "zeroing." The device automatically zeros, and the LED turns off when complete. Reinstall pressure tubes with positive to "+" and negative to "-".
      • Autozero Calibration (-AZ models): If the device includes an autozero circuit, no manual action is required. The autozero function electronically adjusts the transmitter zero at predetermined 10-minute intervals, eliminating drift due to thermal, electronic, or mechanical effects. During the 4-second adjustment period, output and display values freeze to the latest measured value.
  • Cold Environment Operation (-40C Model): The lid must be closed when operating below 0 °C. The display requires 15 minutes to warm up if the device starts below 0 °C. Note that power consumption increases below 0 °C.

Maintenance Features

  • Autozero Calibration: Transmitters equipped with autozero calibration are virtually maintenance-free, as the system automatically compensates for drift.
  • Warranty: HK Instruments provides a five-year warranty covering material and manufacturing defects. Defective products will be repaired or replaced at the seller's discretion. The warranty does not cover damages from accidents, improper handling, abnormal use, or unauthorized modifications.
  • Recycling/Disposal: Parts left over from installation should be recycled according to local instructions. Decommissioned devices should be taken to a recycling site specializing in electronic waste.
