Why Hobbico Hobbistar 60 Toy engine does not start?
    • S
      Scott BarajasAug 2, 2025
If your Hobbico Toy engine doesn't start, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the glow plug battery is correctly wired and making good contact with the plug. A dead or low voltage battery can also prevent starting; replace or recharge it, ensuring it can make the plug glow red hot. A bad glow plug with a burned or deteriorated filament will also prevent the engine from starting, so replace it. Also, try priming the engine through the carburetor air intake to address an improper air/fuel mixture. If the engine is flooded with fuel, close the needle valve completely and attempt to start the engine. It should briefly start and then stop. Then, reset the needle valve and try starting again.

If the Hobbico Toy engine fires but doesn't fully start, it could be due to a few reasons. Check the fuel level in the tank to ensure fuel is reaching the carburetor. Recheck the fuel and open the needle valve about a half turn. Also, improper break-in procedures can cause this issue, so check the break-in procedure and repeat if necessary.

    • R
      Raven GrayAug 25, 2025
If the propeller on your Hobbico Toy is difficult to rotate, the engine may be flooded. Remove the glow plug and rotate the engine until only a mist of fuel remains in the cylinder, then replace the plug and continue.
