2. If the cuff is already prepared, ignore this point. Insert the end of the cuff
(including the rubber clip) into the metal band so that it forms a loop. The velcro
should be on the outside.
3. Place the cuff on the left shoulder so that the tube extends towards the forearm
- see above.
4. Attach the cuff to the shoulder as shown in the illustration above.
5. Make sure the lower edge of the cuff is about 2-3 cm above the elbow and that
the tube is on the inside of the arm.
6. Wrap the cuff firmly in place around your arm using the cloth fastener as shown
in the previous illustration. The marking on the cuff (~3cm long strap) should be
located above the brachial artery, on the inside of the arm.
7. There should be no space between the cuff and arm, as this may affect the
readings. Rolled up sleeves must not press down on the shoulder and must
therefore be rolled up or removed.
8. Secure the cuff with Velcro so that it lies comfortably and is not too tight.
Position your arm on the table (palm up) so that the cuff is at the same height
as the heart (as shown in the illustration below).
