What to do if Homelite UT10946D Chainsaw bar and chain running hot and smoking?
    • D
      David MurphyAug 11, 2025
If the bar and chain on your Homelite Chainsaw are running hot and smoking, it could be due to a few reasons. First, check if the chain oil tank is empty and fill it every time you fill the fuel tank. Next, check the chain tension to ensure it's not too tight and adjust it according to the instructions. Also, check the oiler function by running the saw at half throttle for 30 to 45 seconds, then stopping it to see if oil is dripping from the SAFE-T-TIP and guide bar. If there's no oil, contact a Homelite Servicing Dealer.

If your Homelite Chainsaw engine won't start, it could be due to a couple of reasons. First, there might be no spark. To check this, remove the air filter cover and the spark plug. Reattach the spark plug wire and lay the spark plug on the cylinder, ensuring the metal part touches the cylinder. Pull the starter rope and look for a spark at the spark plug tip. If there's no spark, try again with a new spark plug. Another possibility is a flooded engine. To fix this, turn off the ignition switch and remove the spark plug. Move the choke lever to the run position and pull the starter cord 15 to 20 times to clear excess fuel. Clean and reinstall the spark plug. Set the ignition switch to the run position, push and fully release the primer bulb 7 times, and pull the starter three times with the...
