  There are several reasons why your Honda Portable Generator might be hard to start. It could be due to low engine oil level, so check the engine oil level. Another reason could be no fuel; in this case, loosen the carburetor drain screw and check the fuel flow from the fuel tank. If the spark plug is wet or fouled, remove it and inspect it. Also, no spark or low compression could be the reason. Perform the spark and cylinder compression tests.

Inspect the carburetor for loose installation and improper seal, tightening the nut securely and replacing the O-ring and/or gasket if it's loose.

Remove the maintenance cover and disconnect the wire connector that connects the generator wire harness and control panel wire harness, then check for continuity between the wire connector of the generator wire harness side and ground.
