UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS
ENGINE
WILL

START
1.
Check control
positions.
2. Check fuel.
3. Remove and inspect
spark plug.

Take engine to an
authorized Honda
servicing dealer,

refer to shop manual.
Possible Cause
Choke open.
Ignition switch OFF.
Out of fuel.
Bad fuel; engine stored
without treating or
draining gasoline,
or
refueled with bad gasoline.
Spark plug faulty, fouled,
or
improperly gapped.
Spark plug wet with
fuel (flooded engine).
Fuel filter clogged,
carburetor malfunction,
ignition malfunction,
valves stuck, etc.
Correction
Pull
the choke rod to
CLOSED unless engine
is warm.
Move the throttle
lever to
SLOW or
FAST position

Move the ignition
switch lever to
ON
position (p.
IO).
Refuel.
Brain fuel tank and
carburetor
