SNMP Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a protocol used to manage devices on IP networks.
SSID Service set identifier (SSID) is a unique identifier for a wireless network.
Subnet A group of hosts that form a subdivision of a network.
Subnet mask A subnet mask identifies which bits of an IP address are reserved for the network address. For
example, if the IP address of a particular computer or device is 192.168.2.3 with a subnet mask of
255.255.255.0, this subnet mask indicates the first 24 bits of the address represent the network
address and the last 8 bits can be used for individual computer or device addresses on that network.
Switch A switch is a multi-port device that moves Ethernet packets at full wire speed within a network. A
switch may be connected to another switch in a network.
Switches direct packets to a destination based on their MAC address. Each link to the switch has
dedicated bandwidth (for example, 100 Mbps).
