Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the Hoover 60 cm Slideout Rangehood, model number HV-C60RS. It provides comprehensive information on the rangehood's installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description:

The Hoover HV-C60RS is a 60 cm slideout rangehood designed for domestic use in kitchens. Its primary function is to extract cooking fumes, steam, and odors from the cooking area, thereby improving air quality and preventing grease buildup in the kitchen. The rangehood can operate in two venting modes: "DUCTING" (outdoor extraction) and "RECIRCULATING" (indoor recirculation with charcoal filters). It features a slide-out front panel that activates the rangehood when pulled out and stops it when closed. The unit includes integrated lighting to illuminate the cooking surface and offers adjustable fan speeds for varying extraction needs.

  • Installation Height: 650-750 mm from the cooking surface (minimum 650 mm from electric or gas cooktop).
  • Compliance: AS/NZS 60335.1 and AS/NZS 60335.2.31, RCM Mark compliant.

Usage Features:

The rangehood is designed for ease of use and effective fume extraction.

  • Slide-out Operation: The rangehood automatically starts when the front panel is pulled out and stops when it is pushed back in. It will resume operation at the previously set fan speed when pulled out again.
  • Fan Speed Control: A dedicated button allows users to toggle between fan speed settings: HIGH, LOW, and OFF. "HIGH" provides maximum extraction, "LOW" provides minimum extraction, and "OFF" turns off the fan motors.
  • Lighting: A separate switch controls the integrated LED lights, allowing users to turn them ON or OFF to illuminate the cooking area.
  • Venting Modes:
    • Outdoor Ducting Mode: This is the recommended mode for optimum performance, where exhaust air is vented outside through a 120 mm diameter ducting pipe. In this mode, charcoal filters are not required. The vent cover must be in place.
    • Recirculating Mode: If outdoor venting is not possible, the rangehood can recirculate air back into the kitchen. This mode requires the installation of odour-absorbing charcoal filters. The vent cover should be removed in this mode.
  • Installation Flexibility: The rangehood supports both top-mounting (into a cabinet or ceiling) and back-mounting (onto a wall) installations, with specific drilling diagrams and instructions provided for each method.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the rangehood's efficiency and safety.

  • Aluminium Mesh Filters: These filters capture grease and grime and must be cleaned regularly (at least every two months) to prevent fire hazards and maintain airflow efficiency. They can be washed thoroughly in warm, soapy water or in a dishwasher. It is important to ensure they are completely dry before reinstallation.
  • Charcoal Filters (for Recirculating Mode): These filters absorb cooking odors and are not washable or reusable. They must be replaced regularly, typically every three to six months, depending on usage, or when suction power decreases or odors become noticeable. Instructions for installing and removing charcoal filters are provided.
  • Exterior Cleaning: The exterior surface of the rangehood should be wiped regularly with a soft cloth moistened with a household solvent (e.g., methylated spirits) or a sponge dampened with water and a non-abrasive liquid detergent. Steam cleaners should never be used.
  • Light Bulb Replacement: The rangehood uses a specific rectangular 1.5 W LED lamp. Instructions are provided for safely disconnecting power, removing the old bulb, and installing a new one of the same type and wattage.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes disconnecting the rangehood from the power supply before any cleaning or maintenance. It also warns against touching hot light bulbs and accessible parts after use, and against using open flames underneath the rangehood. Regular cleaning of filters is highlighted as essential to prevent fire risks.
  • After Sales Support: Contact information for after-sales support in Australia and New Zealand is provided for assistance with repairs, spare parts, and general inquiries. The manual advises against attempting repairs yourself to avoid hazards and voiding the warranty.
