INSTALLATION
2-1. INTRODUCTION
2-2. This section contains information to aid in the installation and interfacing of the HP 3457A Digital
Multimeter.
This
section
also
includes
initial
inspection
procedures,
power
requirements,
environmental
in-
formation,
and
instructions
for
repackaging
the
instrument
for
shipment.
The
information
contained
in
this
section is for service trained personnel,
The information contained in this manual is for service trained personnel who are
familiar with electronic circuitry and understand the hazards involved. To avoid
electrical shock or damage to the instrument, do not perform any procedures in this
manual or do any servicing to the instrument unless you are qualified to do so.
2-3. INITIAL INSPECTION
2-4, The 3457A was carefully inspected, both mechanically and electrically, before shipment. It should be
free
of
mars
or
scratches
and
in
perfect
electrical
order
upon
receipt.
The
instrument
should
be
carefully
inspected
for
any
damage
which
may
have
occurred
during
transit.
If
the
shipping
container
or
cushioning
material
is
damaged,
it
should
be
kept
until
the
contents
of
the
shipment
have
been
checked
for
complete-
ness
and
the
instrument
has
been
mechanically
and
electrically
inspected.
The
contents
of
the
shipment
should
be
as
shown
in
Figure
2-1;
procedures
for
testing
the
electrical
performance
of
the
HP
3457A
are
contained in Section IV of this manual. If the contents are incomplete, if there is mechanical damage or
defect,
or
if
the
instrument
does
not
pass
the
performance
tests,
notify
the
nearest
Hewlett-Packard
office
(a
list
of
HP
Sales
and
Service
offices
is
located
in
the
back
of
this
manual).
If
the
shipping
container
is
damaged, or the cushioning material shows signs of stress, notify the carrier as well as the Hewlett-Packard
office. Save the shipping material for the carrier’s inspection.
