number.
2-28. Other Packaging Methods
2-29. If it becomes necessary to reship an instrument, good commercial packing should be
used. Contract packaging companies in many cities can provide dependable custom packaging
on short notice. The following general instructions should be followed when repackaging with
commercially available materials.
a. If shipping to a Hewlett-Packard Office or Center, attach a tag indicating the type of
service required, return address, model number, and full serial number.
b. Wrap the instrument in heavy paper or plastic.
c. Use a strong shipping container. A double-wall carton made of 350-pound test material is
adequate.
d. Use enough shock-absorbing material (3- to 4-inch layer) around ail sides of the instru¬
ment to provide a firm cushion and prevent movement inside the container. Protect the
control panel with cardboard.
e. Seal the shipping container securely.
f. Mark the shipping container FRAGILE to assure careful handling.

2-31. If the instrument is to be stored for an extended period of time, it should be enclosed in a
clean, sealed container.
