Once
a
data
record
is
available,
the
measurement
process
builds
a
histogram
of
the
distribution
of
the
internal
voltage
levels
as
shown
in
figure
13-3.
The
histogram
is
built
on
eight
bits
of
data,
and,
if
in
the
average
mode,
does
not
represent
the
full
resolution
of
the
data
as
this
would
resuit
in
a
very
large
histogram
array.
The
oscilloscope
uses
the
histogram
to
determine
the
statistical
maximum
(top)
and
minimum
(base)
of
the
data
record.
