The following text describes the inputs and outputs on modular spectrum analyzer modules.

HP 70300A RF Tracking Generator and HP 70301A Microwave
Tracking Generator
The
HP 70300A RF tracking generator measures the frequency response of devices from 20 Hz
to
2.9
GHz
with more than 120 dB of dynamic range. The power level of the source output can
be
varied
from
0 10 to 0 20 dBm. Up to 70 dB of attenuation in 10 dB increments is available
with a tracking-generator option. The source output can be modulated with an internal
or external signal. The HP 70301A microwave tracking generator measures the frequency
response of devices from 2.7 GHz to 18 GHz. The HP 70301A microwave tracking generator
provides a 55 dB attenuator and vernier control that attenuate the RF OUTPUT from 0 to 60
dB.
When
used
together
,
the
HP
70300A
RF
tracking
generator
and HP 70301A microwave
tracking
generator
can
provide
,
at
one
output
port,
frequency
coverage from 10 MHz to 18
GHz.
Frequency-span
inaccuracies
are
possible
during
tracking-generator
measurements
when
an
external-mixer-interface
module
and
a
tracking
generator
are
contained
in the same
mainframe
.
