Share with Ethernet and wireless connectivity
Share all your printer has to offer. The MFP offers embedded wired networking capabilities that
allow you to connect directly to a Fast Ethernet 10/100Base-TX network. This device also
includes built-in 802.11b/g/n networking on the M476nw and M476dw models, so you can
connect the MFP directly to a wireless (Wi-Fi) network.

Wireless networking allows work teams
with a wireless router and a wireless-capable notebook or desktop computer to print via
Wi-Fi—there’s no need for a cable between the computer and the MFP. The benefits that are
unique to built-in wireless networking include:
• Increased mobility—Place the MFP anywhere in your wireless network environment.
• Reduced cable clutter—Keep your office environment tidy and organised with fewer
cables.
• Simpler relocation—Fewer cables make it easier to move equipment from one location to
another. There’s no need to install expensive LAN cabling.
Manage devices remotely
Proactively manage your MFP and help save valuable time with convenient device
management tools. HP Device Toolbox for Windows and HP Utility for Mac OS X provide easy
access to the product’s HP Embedded Web Server. Here you can view device and network
status and adjust settings from your computer, instead of from the MFP control panel.
The HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) provides a versatile single-driver solution for nearly every
HP device in your managed printing environment—including the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP
M476 series. The UPD now supports end-to-end encrypted printing, so you can help keep
sensitive information private.

It’s also localised in more than 30 languages.
This MFP is also supported by HP Web Jetadmin, HP’s fleet management tool, for remote
monitoring. HP’s Web Jetadmin is a single solution that allows you to efficiently manage a wide
variety of networked and PC-connected devices—ultimately increasing business productivity
by helping you save time, control costs, protect your assets, and provide better return on your
investment.

Using management tools such as HP Web Jetadmin and HP Universal Print Driver, IT can easily
manage the core features of the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476 series, which is supported at
the distributed enterprise level. Using HP Web Jetadmin, you can employ standard monitoring
and reporting (such as page counts, supplies status and alerts), core fleet configuration (such
as simplex/duplex and connectivity), basic management and policy tools, and core fleet
security settings (such as disable direct ports). For more information on the MFP’s security
features see “Scan fast, send securely” on page 9.
Fleet-level protection
Use optional HP Imaging and Printing Security Center (HP IPSC), the award-winning, policy-
based solution that helps you increase security, strengthen compliance, and reduce risk across
your imaging and printing fleet.
• Streamline the process to securely deploy and monitor devices by applying a single security
policy across the fleet.
• Easily achieve baseline security with the HP Best Practices Base Policy—no security
expertise required.
• Actively maintain and verify compliance with your defined security policies by using HP IPSC
automated monitoring and risk-based reporting.

Device-based security management
For environments where few devices are deployed, IT may choose to manage each device
individually via the HP Embedded Web Server management interface, which employs HTTPS for
encryption and has access controls. In addition, HP provides security wizards to assist in proper
security setup.

policy-based imaging and printing
compliance solution.”
