HP Designjet 4500 Printer Series Service Manual
Color Matching Between Different HP Designjet
Printers
If an image is printed on two different Printer models (for instance, on an HP
Designjet 4500 Printer series and an HP Designjet 1000 Printer series), you
may find that the colors of the two prints do not match well.
Matching two printing devices that use different ink chemistry, paper chemistry,
and Printheads is unlikely to be completely successful. The information
provided here is the best way to emulate one Printer with another. Even so, the
end result may not be a perfect match.
Emulating the colored lines from the HP Designjet 1000 Series
To enable this go to the Printer Setup icon in the front panel and select:
Default printing options/Color Options/RGB Input Profile /HP Designjet
1000 series.
Note: Once this is set any RGB files the printer receives will
use the emulation
The color will be very similar to that which is printed from the HP Designjet
1000 Printer series.
Here are some important points to note when using the printer emulation
feature:
It will not be 100% the same as the HP Designjet 1000 Printer series, this
is mainly because in the HP Designjet 1000 series family, there is a high
level of variation in the color output, this is because there is no close loop
color to ensure color accuracy.
This setting will only be available from the front panel, and will not be
available through the Embedded Web Server, or through the driver.
The HP Designjet 1000 Printer series color emulation will over-write any
previous RGB color settings.
This setting is not applicable to CMYK files, or when printing through
PostScript drivers.
The PostScript driver already has HP Designjet 1000 Printer series
emulation, available for CMYK and certain types of media.
The HP Designjet 1000 Printer series color emulation is not optimized for the
following media types:
Translucent
Clear Film
Matte Film
Printing via separate PostScript drivers
The situation is that you are printing on each printer using the PostScript
driver installed for that printer. In this example, we are using an HP Designjet
4500 Printer series and an HP Designjet 1000 Printer series.
1 Ensure that both printers have been updated with the latest firmware version.
